NO...this wud mean i'm condoning his life-style. in Canada, there is help available...they live on the street coz they don't like desciplines in the house which they have to adhere to. i've no sympathy for them.

YES...in Islam it IS encouraged...charity starts from home...except parents and grand-parents, everybody else in the family and extended family can be given money from zakaat funds...including real brothers and sisters. islam also encourages to seek out the needy who do NOT ask for help.

YES, indeed! they deserve more after ur own family. only restriction about zakaat money is that it can NOT be given to non muslims. for then there is something else called sadaqa which can be given to anyone regardless of race, religion, color, ethnicity. one can NOT expect any RETURN/FAVORS against money given as zakaat. there is a list of preferred recipients of zakaat.
