Ye dil bahut udaas hai

Ye thread parh k mujhy depression ho raha hy :(

Re: Ye dil bahut udaas hai

:rotfl: LP is spreading depression that she got after watching documentary on depression

Re: Ye dil bahut udaas hai

Mood swings are termed as mood swings...n not postnatal depression.

Severe situations such as bipolar disorder also termed as manic depression is not due to weaker belief cuz in tht ppl have episodes of being high too...where they are very happy and think they can conquer the world (metaphorically)
So if it was due to weal belief or pessimist attitude how would it have episodes of being so happy. These episodes may last a few hours , days or even weeks.

Re: Ye dil bahut udaas hai

We don't understand why ppl have depression...or how to treat it...as u said...danday k zoor se..thts the general view abt it too...cuz..we have v limited knowledge in this .

Re: Ye dil bahut udaas hai

but then how people having strong belief in God don't face such situation. They are happy and content with all problems they have in their life. What is that? something anti-depression

Re: Ye dil bahut udaas hai

Trying to impart what I learnt from it
I read articles too.

LP virus hy?

Re: Ye dil bahut udaas hai

And who says they don't ? How would you know who goes through depression and who doesn't when the concept itself isn't yet fully accepted in our society ?

Re: Ye dil bahut udaas hai

mat padha karen aisi cheezen… There was a time, when I used to read horror stories and then started watching strange people in dreams.

Re: Ye dil bahut udaas hai

how do you say that the concept is not accepted in our society? Probably, our society have traditions which play like anti-depressants.

Re: Ye dil bahut udaas hai

When depression has been related to genes and hormones too in some cases...how can we say its due to weak faith ?

There are different forms of depression out there with varying degrees of severity.
How can we simply judge those ppl by saying its due to weak faith ?

Aik had tak it’s tolerable un logon sy bhe to pocho jo depressed bandy ko maheenu or saalun sambhalty hain us k bad to danda dikhana he parta hy.I think it’s totally upto that depressed person that he/she wants to get rid of the situation people can only help upto some extent and i don’t believe in medical treatment for depression.

Re: Ye dil bahut udaas hai

Having traditions which act like anti depressants is not the same as accepting depression as a medical problem.
And what are those traditions ? I'd like to read about them.

Re: Ye dil bahut udaas hai

the documentary i watched...usme bipolar disorder se effected logon k ghar walon kd bhi interview thay.
And yes they take high doses of meds...n meds help them.
Depression is widely misunderstood ...its believed to be a 'haaraey huay insan k nishani'.
When actually...its a medical condition.

Re: Ye dil bahut udaas hai

Psychology interests me....
Wht causes ppl to be good or bad...depressed or happy...wht kinda situations etc

Re: Ye dil bahut udaas hai

Depression may be know in our societies with different names but I don't think that its not recognised in our societies. We recognise that with terms 'na-umeedi' ' be-kali', 'Iztaraab', 'be-chaini' and people give different reasons and solutions for that.

Our societies are different than west. People still are connected with family. People do interact with each other. We have still 'chopals', 'otaq' ' dere, 'zaviye' , 'mazarat' in our societies where people can do catharsis of their feelings, which relieve them to a greater extent.

Re: Ye dil bahut udaas hai

philosophy section main jaiye :hehe:

They keep on changing the facts in scientific research like they said if you pluck a white hair more will grow in it’s place now they say it’s not true so how can you believe that depression is related to genes and hormones? Ye to aj kal ki beemari hy pehly to ni the.

:emmy:

Re: Ye dil bahut udaas hai

na ummedi - hopeless
Be chaini -restless
Baqi do words ka meaning nai pata mujhe...
Yes our societies are different...i dont know wht those words mean...but if its a place where people can do catharsis of their feelings...then that helps in treating depression...its similar to having a session with the psychylogist... except tht you know everything you say to a psychologist will stay within those four walls...n thts not the case abt speaking in gatherings.
Moreover there are patterns which a psychologist notices and a common man might not notice...
But yes these kinda gatherings are a great help.
