Re: Y
Its not a feeling of superiority but a feeling of belonging to a group. I'm proud of my caste, just as much as I am proud of being a Pakistani. There's nothing wrong with that people.
Re: Y
Caste is just a name, being Pakistani is not, imo. No offence.
Re: Y
Agree..
Re: Y

Re: Y
I am proud of rallying all the coconuts around me and that includes sara and jafriiii
Re: Y
I am not a coconut. No khatmal can be a coconut.
Re: Y
For me... I'm proud of being a Muslim first. I am not hesitant in admitting that I'm proud to be a Punjabi (more so than being a Pakistani). I'm a Punjabi, those are my roots and they have been for the longest time, long before Pakistan was created. However, I am not proud of my caste/tribe... I could care less about that... my forefathers being landowners does not impact my culture right now, whereas the other factors do... if that makes any sense.
Re: Y

Re: Y
Good posts.
There needs to be a good balance between being 'proud' of what you are/you do and being critical of what you do.
We do noting special ourselves of what group of people we are born in.
Self liking is essential for having sanity.
Self loving to the point of hurting someone different is plain and simple wrong.
Re: Y
then why u put this question in a thread ???
because ye question merey mind mein tha:@: or communications sey hamarey buhat si cheezein ,confusions solve ho sakti hein ..:)
Re: Y
I'm also proud of my achievements, however I am also not ashamed of who I am, where my roots are, which family I belong to so I'm not sure if I'd be classed as a proud person?
I'm proud of the fact I am Muslim, an strive to be a better person, I'm also proud to be British without being OTT, and I'm quite happy to admit I am of Punjabi/Pathan mixed bloodlines and I'm married into a Pathan family, making my little one a Pathan.
I think there's being proud, and there's being a bit too big for your boots where everything that comes out of someone's mouth is offensive to others around them.
Re: Y
People take pride in things to give them something to hold onto when the storms blowing...
Personally I can have little pride in my Ancestors actions but at the same time I can have pride that they were able to change who they were for the better... otherwise we'd still be building pyramids with skulls.
Re: Y
I'm a Malik, I didn't know that until a few years ago and I don't use it in my surname either. I don't understand why pride is associated with caste? Maybe it's the way people are brought up?
Re: Y
Thank heavens my ancestors were meritocratic… caste system makes no sense… ![]()
