I wrote that down because this discussion has happened before and the said will be the ending on this no more no less. I was just trying to save time. You can put my comments under sarcasm posts.
PS: Me, extremist now this will be the first time I've been called that :) , Nevermind I've been called Kaffir/atheist a lot of times as well.
Don't say to keep Islam and Science separate. Its one of the HALLMARKS of our religion that we actually have the balls to bring science into things, because we don't think that it will make us less of a believer. Don't try to get rid of the one last dying good thing among the muslim people. Science and ISLAM do go hand in hand together. Although, what you're thinking of is a scientific theory that might get disproven later on, and the risk of supporting something in Islam with a theory that might be disproved later. For that, I say that we should still make comparisons and use science to support Islam, and we should not let the threat that some scientific theory might be wrong to avoid this.
Good point about the incest between Adam's children. I never thought about that.
I think there are good scientific reasons for not eating pork, and for the same health reasons or similar ones, shrimp and other shellfish is maqroo (I mean, think about how avoiding that stuff or eating minimal amounts will lower cholesterol problems and subsequently heart disease), how eating too much meat and not enough fruits and veggies is not good either. The early muslim diet that the Prophet used, and that some people like to research, was not all meat. There was a lot of fruits and veggies.
Bottom line is basically that it was made to be a test for us. Do we really need to disobey God and go for something that really isn't necessary for us? Its might be just to test whether we really believe or not. I don't find that to be an unplausable theory.
Think about what you just said. What kinds of fruits and veggies grow in the deserts of the Arabian peninsula? I know that they used to eat a lot of dates but that's about it.
The Prophet even used to drink olive oil. The arabs actually used to eat a lot of meat and fat, they used to dip bread in butter or oil and eat it.
The difference is that they had a very active lifestyle, and they used to get a lot of exercise unlike today.
For example, swimming is a Sunnah.
If fruits and vegies cannot grow because it's desert then how can you swim in desert?
If there was water enough for swimming it was enough for farming as well.
They had vegetables and fruits. Maybe not the same varieties you see in your grocery store, but they had it. I also forgot carbs. Breads, etc. But I distinctly remember that the Prophet encouraged to limit meat. In fact limit eating in general - just eating to give you enough energy, not to fill up your stomach.
I guess you got me there. If I remember my geography correctly, Madinah was on an oasis, and also there was farmland around Madinah. So obviously there were certain areas with water. But that doesn't mean that you'll be able to grow anything you want in the desert.
I don't know exactly how many times or where the Prophet used to go swimming, but he did swim.
I am pretty sure you already know all this, and you are just pulling my leg.
This is kind of a useless argument. I just find it hard to believe that the arabs of the desert would prefer fruits and vegetables over meat because there are just a few things that can be grown in the desert.
I don't know of the Prophet saying anything like limiting meat intake. I really doubt that he said something like that.
It kind of seems to me that you are saying that being a vegetarian is preferred. The fact is that you can eat practically whatever you want as long you work it off. Your input (food intake) has to be roughly equivalent to your output (work and exercise). And among other things everyone needs fats and protein in their diet, and the best source of protein is meat and eggs.
I'm not saying one should go on a strictly vegetarian diet. Rather just control what you eat to just the amounts you need. ex. No need to garf down 5 kabaabs. Eat one.
A pig is the only animal in the world that will have sexual inter. w/ another male. It has no dignity or respect for itself - in some parts of the world they are used as sewage system cause there good with getting rid of human waste by consuming it.
You are what you eat and those who eat pigs - well it all speaks for itself.
I think this sums up why pigs are considered haram.
so there are lot of other animals and birds which are homoseuals …i could not post here link just put homoseuality in animals in google or wiki and find the answer
so then almost all animals should be banned…
so far i have not seen a single ‘logic’ to ban pig from eating
Even beef, mutton or chicken meat is haraam if it is not zabiha.
You can say that these scientific facts show some of the wisdom behind it. Even if we could find a hundred reasons why we shouldn't consume it, but then someone presented us with 101 reasons why we should, it would still be haraam.
i agree to what you say..but i have read somewhere that zabiha and halaal are not the same terms...zabiha means SLAGUHTERED and halaal means permissable to consume...so one can slaughter anything that is or isn't halaal...i dont exactly remember the whole debate but i remember that muslims are commanded and allowed to eat anything that that is halaal as well as zabiha..
there are specific terms for halaal and haram animals birds and seafood etc.
the major factors are
animals
it should have split hooves like goats or similar like camels
should sit with its front legs (dasti) first
should have flat teeth (herbivores)
should have "Ojri" rather than a full intestinal system
aves
should have a straight beak
should not eat with help of its claws
seafood listing is too long if anyone needs it I can post later
