Let’s say in the next elections in America a Muslim stands up to become president, would you vote for him?
Keep in mind this will not a be a ‘Kalima-Muslim’, he will be a Muslim as a Muslim is perceived to be…He will have a beard, will pray five times a day (As if that’s a choice:rolleyes: ), and will have definite positions regarding occupied Palestine, the Muslim world (without sectarian mentality) and will have fantastic economic plans which will prove to be a boon for America…
He will however keep secularism the way it is in its current state but will definitely outlaw gay marriages…
He will faithfully carry out his duties as the president of the United States of America like any other president without bringing his religious beliefs into account…
I will answer myself later on after I have read all your replies because my answer will partly depend upon your responses too…
It would be great if the mods could turn this into a poll as:
Yay
Nay
Alongwith the regular poll of yes and no please provide why you would or not vote for him…Just a blank yes is no is pretty stupid, so let us know what made you decide and why…
Re: Would you vote for a Muslim American president?
So those that do not have beards are not real Muslims eh?
As for the question, even though I am not a voter, but if I were, I’d see whose policies are best for the country, and if they are, I’d vote for this guy. Also, have you noticed how twisted and flawed the poll discussion is? You spent the first few lines highlighting how Islamic the guy should be. You mentioned how he should ban gay marriages, be a bearded maulana jee, have a firm support-Palestine policy, and in the end you said…
Spock, as with most polls I have seen on Gupshup being made into a hodgepodge of arguments and nitpicking, I had no doubts this one too will be made into one...If polls were to compensate for every person's point of view, every poll ever conducted would be accompanied by a dictum the size of the Bible...
The basic reason for polls is to provide the simplest answer with the information given...True, that information may not always be correct, but that doesn't matter...That's where your decision power comes into play to decide the best answer in the limited information you have been given...
But just to answer your question, supporting Israel for America is a religious task which every American president does on the behest of the Bible...It may seem political, but it's not, as the Bible proclaims that Jesus will not return to establish the kingdom of god on Earth unless the Jews have a land of their own...
It is the president's prerogative to pledge support and the US's foreign policy in any way for any country for any number of reasons...
The religious things he would not delve in would be matters of implementing any Islamic laws...I hope that makes it clear to all...By him not bringing his religious views into account, I meant he will not implement any Islamic laws...
Politics is not part of Islam, Islam is only 5 pillars, shahadah, namaz, ruza, zakat, hajj.
In terms of ruling we have to follow the west but in the masjid we have to follow Allah. There is no ruling system in Islam.
All the ayats and hadiths about politics have to be removed from the Quran and Sunnah.
The above is the understanding of Islam which Bush and the west wants muslims to have so that they can subjugate us and they want muslims to propagate this otherwise if you live in America you will be deported and if you live in a muslim country the AMericans will either bomb you or invade.
Long live America, BUsh for re-election.
Mr Bush can i have my green card to go to America now plse, have i not proved my loyalty to you.
Having a muslim president in the US right now is an unrealistic assumption. There are just so many things involved e.g. whose moneys is he taking for his campaign, what are his priorities and agenda regarding rights of muslims in the US and the policies of US around the world etc.
However, hypothetically, if it ever comes to a choice between a muslim and a non-muslim (or non-muslims), I'd pick the muslim candidate in a heart-beat. Then again, thats just me. :)
