Sorry, i understood the first part of your sentence, but i am not sure if i understand the relationship with the second part of the sentence. i guess you are reiterating what i stated earlier - when i said that Islam and Judaism may be closer to each other than either is towards Christianity (from a strictly monotheistic point of view), that wasn't to imply that Islam views Christianity as its "enemy". By your token, one could argue that Judaism would also view Christianity as its enemy because it is closer to Islam than to the former. That doesn't hold true for either Islam or for Judaism...in my opinion.
Exactly. But the question posed dealt with “Islam” and you chose to respond by highlighting extremist Christian groups. Nothing in your post about extremist Islamic groups.
Exactly. And again why I responded as I did. Had you replied this way in your original post, you’d have had no quarrel from me. But you chose to deal with Islam generally without mentioning the fringe extremists while ignoring Christianity in general and choosing to focus on the fringe.
A lawyer till the end Next time i should attach politically-correct disclaimers to the end of all my posts. Yes, you are right - i admit completely and unequivocally: i chose to deal with Islam generally without mentioning the fringe extremists while ignoring Christianity in general and choosing to focus on their fringe extremists. Kindof like how individuals single out Islam in particular when it comes to the issue of extremist groups, but don’t discuss other extremist groups. Then again, honestly speaking - that does not justify what i did above; you are right, i did focus on Christian fringe groups while not mentioning Christianity in general. i am sorry. Fault and bias noted.
I don’t care about the politically correct part. Disclaimers are, IMO, total BS. Those cigarette warnings are a perfect example.
But I’m glad you recognize how that particular reply might be perceived as biased and somewhat inflamatory. See … even a WAs Forum restricted to women has the potential to be faulty, biased and less than perfect.
And, my New Years Resolution is to be equally critical of anyone who singles out Islam for criticism without recognizing the the existence of extremeism in their own particular religion of choice.
On the contrary, my dear MV. A WA Forum restricted to women would include individuals who are not afraid to apologize when they have made mistakes, who are here to learn and not preach, and who would use the smily instead of the smily. It’s when the testosterone level gets too high and a particular gender starts to participate ‘too much’ that we start to see faults, bias and a refusal to apologize and learn when one is clearly in the wrong (Apologies to all my male friends in this Forum from whom i do, occasionally, learn so much).
