Even before Injury, you could sense Sachin has lost some of his savage-ness (Is it a word?) while Inzimam and Lara are scoring runs way more consistently and authoritatively
About tendulkar winning matches for his team well hes got seventy two centuies> im sure quite a number of them wouldve won india the match
You are doing a basic mistake by combining the TEST and ODI 100s…dude both games are class apart. BTW, following is the analysis of top 3 batsmen of current era and the format is:
100s in winning cause (total 100s) = win cause percentage
And this includes all the “match-winning” innings he played against garbage attacks of Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka in the 90’s! The only century I remember from him is against Australia in a Sharjah Cup Final in one dayers, and a few centuries against the Aussies in test matches (where Indian bowling played a huge part as well in winning the tests). Everytime the situation has got out of hand, he has choked.
*No way in hell would I do that! There have been many other batsmen who have performed when needed the most. Tendulkar does not stand out in that aspect at all. I will only remember him as an overrated semi-God manufactured by the Indian media. This is just my opinion ofcourse, and I have nothing against the Indian players. *
Speaking of World XI selection, dont you guys think Gavaskar (beside other blunders) has done another blunder/favor by including Mark Boucher instead of Kumara Sangakara in the Test squard?
Here are the 3 obvious reasons (at least obvious to me)
Sangakara has test average of 48.06 vs Boucher's 30.68
Sangakara is in great form from last 2 years
As Murli is almost sure to play, he would have been better choice
Agreed 110%. I am sick and tired of people NOT using their own judgements and knowledge of the game and instead relying on the media to determine the greatest player who played the game.
Its all about the hype which players like tendi, gangu, sehwag gets from their media. Ever imagined inzi or afridi as indian players? People in India would have worshipped them as Bhagwan Bablo and Bhagwan Boom Boom.
Well I guess you have read Gilchrist’s commets in detail about the inclusion of Boucher and sangakara’s exclusion . Apparently the reasons obvious to you seemed obvious to Gilchrist as well :D. Gilchrist however, came up with them a day earlier.
