I have been saying for some time FIFA rankings need to be revamped, they dont make sense.
Holland which is in the top 5 i believe barely beat a team ranked in the 40s yesterday and here #2 team is beating the crap out of #5 team.

what a schlacking.
I have no idea what teams like Iran and USA are doing in the world cup, they make for very boring viewing. They hogged the ball and while 2 goals down in the beginning of the second half they were playing like Denmark with a 3 goal lead playing out the last ten minutes of a game... they were lightly jogging towards the czech goal, as if their object was to merely give the ball to the nice czech defender.
Im hugely impressed by the czech team, im rooting for them to win! :czech flag:

could not have said it better, but I mean look at our US striker, dude has not scored for US team since 2000, why even bother to take him, surely there are other options from MLS.
I had hopes for the US team to atleast get beyond group matches, but this is very disappointing. Yes..they dont deserve to be #5 but I did not think they will lose like this to czech, I was thinking more like 2-1 ..

It's a pity that good teams like Ivory Coast and Serbia will exit the tournament early, while US still stands a chance to qualify (not that they won't get some beating from Brazil if they do manage to sneak through :D)

Italy Ghana match would give us a glimpse into what US will face next. Mathematically it is still possible for US to advance, so lets see.

Italy v Ghana just started...this is going to be a good match since both of the teams are tough.
I'd say its gonna be a draw but I would love to see Ghana win.

U.S. being ranked 5 was a sham...best team since 94? I think not. Short run for the U.S. with Italy up next and all, oh well.

See, I didnt think US would win this match anyway. US is not know for :fifa: but UK is and there is a 40-year hunger in UK for a FIFA title. Thats the difference.

Interesting couple of games in this group today. The Czechs look extremely dangerous and the Italians should really worry. Ghana also looked stronger than I expected with Appiah and Essien pulling their strings with better finishing they could easily have scored an equalised before Kuffours mistake killed the game. The USA look the weakest team in their group.
The US was taught a footballing lesson today. Amidst all the hype, the US got punished by a technically and more skillfully superior side. I always said that the US should've adopted more of a compact defensive approach to this game with more behind the ball. Yeah, the US had some of the ball possession but let's face it, watching them build from the back is like watching paint dry. They do not move the ball quick or efficient at all. Honestly I do not know what we were expecting.. Hrdwork and fitness doesn't win against good footballing nations. People talk about Beasley and Convey should've ran at defenders more....nonsense, they would've lost possession even more. Those two do not have any style or guile on the ball whatsoever...no unpredictability coming from those two. They just rely on quickness to get by against guys that do not have such athletic capacities or don't have a seasoned footballing mind. I like how the US was so overconfident, some even being cocky because that set up Americans for nothing but failure. Talk is talk...doing it is another thing.
The American media is to share some of the blame. After hearing the commentary on BSPN on these days leading up to the game I felt sick. This team was way overhyped. The analysts made it seem like every player on USA is a star and kept repeating how USA is "ranked #5 in the world." According to Alexi Lalas, "Keller is the best keeper in the world, he just doesn't get recognition becasue he's an American." Has he heard of Buffon before?
Bottom line is USA is not of the same caliber as even the solid European teams, not to mention the spectacular ones. Czech is a good team but this performance was truly a pity.

maybe u have not been following the talking smack by us soccer folks after being ranked #5 in the world. This just went to show that FIFA rankings need to be revamped .. they dont mean jack. I can bet that Trinidad and Tobago woulda given US a run for its money, and they are ranked like 40 something.
5Abi- atleast in UK teams are not disbanded and sports declared women’s sports after a 22-0 thrashing by a third world country
