I have a friend who’s husband is an ivy league grad.
Soon after having a child she rejoined the workforce and got a nanny to take care of her kid. Lots of people gave her heat for that.
After she went back to work, her husband got diagnosed with a life threatening illness. No warning. Perfectly healthy guy.
She now runs the house - alone. If it weren’t for her job, there would have been no insurance to pay for his treatment, medical bills and future expenses including her son’s health insurance.
Her husband was the one who pushed her to go to school when they first got married and made her finish. If he hadn’t done that and kept her home…where would they be right now?
I am really proud of her and how she’s handled this at such a young age.
I am not saying go marry a workaholic. Usually before people get married, they’re all workaholics because there’s nothing else to do. But do marry someone who has ambition and wants to do something with her life.
