Re: Woolmer panned for Shoiab comments

relax guys its just amir sohail...tell me one thing does he or sarfarz nawaz have any credibility any more? so why worry

Re: Woolmer panned for Shoiab comments

Can someone post the original article where Woolmer gave the statement against Shoaib which made sohail so angry?
Being Pakistan's coach I think he can fully comment on any players situation. I don't uderstand what is so wrong if a coach tells the media that a player can only play when he is fit to play. Secondly if he has said that shoaib is not an integral part of the team then in a way he is right. I think his statement has been misinterpreted. if somes one says that shoaib akhtar is not an integral part of the team now, that doesn't mean that he is not needed in the side any more, no doubt he is a one of the main bowler in our bowling armory, but yes pakistan can survive in his absence now. Until the start of VB series all of us believed that he was the integral part of the team and without him there is no way our bowling can survive the opposition onslaught. Recently Pakistan bowling has been entirely dependent on shoaib and not only because he was the main striker but also bowlers like rana, sami and kineria wern't getting any limelight and therefore were lacking in confidence. But after shoaib's departue things changed and we saw that our bowlers can perform and deliver without him as well. Having said that I pray that fully fit shoaib can join the side and this tiime hopefully with a correct attitude.

Re: Woolmer panned for Shoiab comments

Shoaib Akhter is getting trashed by his coach, captain, selectors, chairman of PCB by all and sundry. Why? Cause the guy just cant keep his ego under his shirt. This is Shoaib Akhter: The fastest bowler, big talker, rides in the fast lane, show-off, huge ego and short of being fully fit to bowl at 160K all the time.

Its sad to read so many negative comments on this great bowler (pls refer to stats enclosed) he has won many laurels for Pakistan and has won test matches single handidly, yet because of his mouth which works faster than his hands, he is demonized and criticized.

Before we throw him to the dogs, though our board has already done that, just take a look at the stats given below. Compare Shoaib to your premier fast (so-called) bowlers. Looking at the stats, guys do u seriously believe that Rana or Sami will be able to deliver the desired results. And please dont talk to me about India. Look what they did in Australia, look at their averages, strike rates and economy rates, compare them to Shoaib paggal, and then ask yourself, are we ready to dump the only strike bowler we have?

Having won the one day series in India, it seems like we have won Kashmir. Bhai they whipped our asses when they visited and India is still a far better test side than Pakistan. Out of the 15 days of test cricket played, India dominated at least 10of those cricketing days, they should have won the first test, but for the heroics of Razzak and Akmal.

One day cricket is more of a circus, a flip of a coin if you like. To decide fates of cricket players and teams based on one day cricket and that too one series is totally unprofessional and shows lack of cricketing knowledge.

How many test series has Pakistan won since Woolmer and Inzamam have taken charge? Ask yourslef, what happened in India and what happened in Australia, which scenario is likely to be repeated when Pakistan meets England, South Africa or New Zealand forget Australia?

Re: Woolmer panned for Shoiab comments

Lets not turn this into another shoaib bashing thread. Stick to Woolmer or Aamir.

Re: Woolmer panned for Shoiab comments

fartguru, you should also look at Shabbir's stats to see how he fares as he will be one of contenders for a position in our team's bowling dept.

Re: Woolmer panned for Shoiab comments

Shabbir is a fine bowler, provided he is fit his selection should be automatic…

Shabbirs stats:

Played 7 test matches, took 33 wickets at an average of 25.48, strike rate of 57.7 and a fantastic economy rate of 2.64. Try beating that!!

One day performance is not that impressive. He played 29 matches, with 29 wickets, averaging 36.93, strike rate of 51.1 and economy 4.33.

Rana has a better bowling average in one days compared to Shabbir, but in test matches (real cricket) Shabbir stands “tall”

Re: Woolmer panned for Shoiab comments

I may have to agree to some extent (not the foreigner part ) with Aamir Sohail AND brahamachari99 on this one. Just because you won a remarkable series doesn't give you an authority to single out a player and insult him publicly and get away with it. Just look at the comments made by Woolmer AFTER the indian series.

"Fit in or F%%% off"

"Shoaib is not an intregral part of the team "

"Shoaib even fit may not be considered for the WI tour"

"...Self proclaimed Superstar.....( don't remmember the whole context)"

I can't see the logic of making such statements especially when everyone knows Shoaib will be back in the squad. Wouldn't that hurt the player-coach relationship?I know Shoaib is a difficult nut crack head but that doesn't mean the coach should stoop to his level .He should have dealt the whole situation professionaly and in a much more tactful manner.

OR maybe this whole thing is an evil genius plan by Woolmer to bring the best out of Shoaib Akhtar :D

Re: Woolmer panned for Shoiab comments

Looks like shoaib is taking dose of his own medicine :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Woolmer panned for Shoiab comments

His stupid egotistical gestures to Venkatesh Prasad to “bowl again and get hit for 4” back-fired spectacularly when he was bowled next ball. That moment lost Pakistan the match, and my support for the Pakistan team forever.
