Be very careful Nia. Since it sounds like such an extreme story, I would say there is a risk that its a con. Watch out if she asks for money.
The only thing you can do is to get her some free legal help that might help her get out of it with a divorce. And then resources that can help her manage on her own.
Its true. If she doesn't want to help herself, there is only little you can really do. Some people are masochists deep down.
