^ The question is not whether a woman is obligated to pray all her prayers in congregation or what she has to do during menstruation... if there happens on occasion to be a group of women and a group of men ready for prayer, why can't one of the women lead? That's the question.
In terms of this issue…there are many other rites that are confusing to people. The best thing is to just leave it like that. I think women can and should be able to lead prayers.
Umm .. women are not even allowed (maybe a strong word?) to say 'SubhanAllah' when the Imam makes a mistake, because their (beautiful) voice is considered distracting & thus they are asked to clap.
So, how can they lead prayer which includes them reciting Quran & all.
i dont understand why the answer to women's subservience in Islamic laws always get related to purdah.....really women not leading prayer is not the same category.......it falls more in the category of no-woman leader for an islamic nation aspect.........Islam's a patriarcically organised religion, and leading prayer, mosque sermons and leading a nation, all of which are positions to mould public opinion and direction of Islamic state, are not allowed to women.......khatam baat.........is mai men are pigs and women are bitches kahan sai aajata hai?
frankly none of the fluffy theories hold up to common sense....
Aishaa u can keep looking but i doubt you'd find any definite command revealed by Allah that prohibits or permits it.
It then comes down to the particular Muslim society in general to decide without prejudice.. considering the whole lot of religious decision makers in the Muslim world have been and are males.. women would have to wait a while to get any verdicts in their favor.... the presence of apologetic Muslimahs like MQ doesn't help the female cause either..
apologetic my foot. Listen buddy I used common sense which doesnt seem to be too common these days. I have yet to bring some Quranic ayahs into it.And when I need your opinions about me , rest assured I will not forget to ask you. Until then, please leave my faith out of my personality.Pata nahen kaise dimaagh hain logon kai :o
You are not going to have equal rights until you demand them. But you would have to think the religion (culture, habit, practice, doctrine?) is denying you equal rights before you'd ask for them. And then you would have to want to change the religion (culture/habits/practice/doctrine) to make it happen. And that is a lot to expect from a religion/culture/habits/practice/doctrine that discourages change.
yeh i understand what you’re saying. I mean i get that at the time everything was revealed, society was in favor of men but since the Quran is for all times and society is inconsistent, maybe in the future people will be more accepting of women leading prayer (if its allowed). But thats all i was asking, im not trying to be difficult..I just thought people here would have some sort of explanation cause i sure as hell wasn’t getting a good one from a maulvi
and i dont really see why women wouldnt be able to lead
