For my family, its a day to bring some magic to my boys. Yes, Santa Claus comes! They get some presents and are just in awe of it all. Its a day to gather family and friends, share a feast, share in the joys of giving and receiving gifts. The happiness of being together and for being thankful for all the we have. Its the time of year to reflect on the past year and look to the New Year and make resolutions.
But I think your question was directed more to practicing Christians. Christmas for them is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ who they beleive was the Son of God.
There are many stories and fables that have to do with this time of year - not just christmas. Many holidays - Eid was not too long ago, Hanukah has just passed, christmas and Jinnah day were yesterday. A new calendar year begins next week. So this time of wishing others a happy holiday season is not limited to those of christian faith.
We had SUCH a nice day yesterday! Thanks once again, good people of GS for your warm wishes and I wish the same to you!
so you tell your boys that Santa Claus has brought the gifts even though you and your hubby bought them. This is a lie. Do you feel joy when you raise your boy's with such a lie? I don't want to be offensive, but don't parents tell their Kids that Santa Claus was here? In fact he was not and does not exist. We grown adults know the Story, but doing this with little boys or girls?!?
BB
I feel like picking on you.
So tell me you have one son 4 years old. Then mashallah your wife give birth to anther beautiful healthy child.
Now the first one asks, were the new one came from?
bb, here is a famous letter and response regarding santa claus and this is basically what we tell our boys about santa. I completely fail to see anything wrong with allowing some magic into their lives as I had. Yes I absolutely feel joy when I see their awed little faces on christmas morning!!! Yes, hubby and I bought the gifts and santa claus lives on in the hearts of moms and dads.
mama, he is just messing with ya.
He is a smart person, he thinks shooting a troubling wife is the fastest way to fix the issue.
Could not agree with him more.
I'm completely speechless. I don't want to mess with you Mamaof3. I'll get burned badly :D
Keep believing what you believe, I believe what I believe. God exists in my Heart, not Santa Claus.
I remember that incident when I was 7-8 years old and played with friends outside during Christmas and this guy [yes, it was Santa :D ] came with a big sack and said Hoho Hoho I have come to give you gifts. He gave me a little model truck. I said to him you're not Santa Claus and he said give the truck back to if you don't believe in me. I said I believe and ran away. What a magical moment. We have to discuss about Christmas via PM.
What a joy...jedem das seine.
JimmyKimble,
I'm a smart person and my 4 year old will be 2-4-6 steps ahead of me. He'll understand when I say the creator gives and takes ;)
