Re: WINNER | Love Letter Competition

BP cool down. There was some problems in conducting this competition and Culture team tried its best to address all the concerns. You have been informed all that through PMs and we also don't want further discussion on that either in this thread or PMs. We can't punish people or discourage them for some mistakes / misunderstanding. Point of holding such competition is just to have activity and fun in otherwise a dead forum (where very few posters visit and posts). If attitude of confrontation on minor matters is faced, I'm sorry but we won't be able to volunteer our time for such competitions.

Re: WINNER | Love Letter Competition

I'm really disappointed with the way this so-called "competition" was conducted. If the competition is being held in the culture forum, why was the poll/discussion on anonymity conducted in the Canvas forum? I didn't even know until now when/where this discussion took place. Had I known, I may not have participated.

I can understand why certain participants might wish to remain anonymous, but if so, why did the mods/CM not disclose this factor properly (if not in the rules thread then at least in the poll thread) and why was this condition not applied to all participants uniformly? If the purpose of this very fair and proper "competition" was to increase activity, then why make it a competition at all? Why not just have everyone share their entries and have people comment on it?

I won't be participating in the next competition or the next. Seems like anyone can make, break or change the rules however they please.

Note to mahool: micro is right, if a question is asked openly, you should address it openly as more than one person might be having the same thought.

Re: WINNER | Love Letter Competition

^
Actually according to that poll in canvas competitions should be held anonymously (according to majority) and it was mentioned in that thread that identity of the participant should be disclosed in the results.

Here have a look
http://www.paklinks.com/gs/canvas/635034-should-competitions-be-held-anonymously.html

There is a misunderstanding that results sholud also be revealed anonymously

Re: WINNER | Love Letter Competition

How many of you are open to share your private love life on public forum? The nature of competition is serious to some. Some participant really came out from their shells and gave their real stories but asking complete anonymity. What is the problem… This is not manzar kashi or soemthing else… it involves their real stories.. How many of you would like to write love letter with your name? I accept that I should notify public audience too… but I communicated properly and told Muqa that few participant are not willing to publish their name…

I think, we all are mature and adult and do understand the sensitivities of matter.

Feedback forum is open… If majority of you are thinking my style of conducting competition is not healthy I would step down and contribute as normal user. It would be your call.

Re: WINNER | Love Letter Competition

Exactly. What I meant was, I am not aware when and where people discussed that participants in the results thread are to be kept anonymous. I know about the discussion regarding not disclosing identities while voting is going on. That one makes sense, so that people don’t just blindly vote for their friends. I don’t know what is the point of keeping the participants a secret after the polls have closed. And if that is to be done, then do it all across the board, hain na? That would have been stupid but it would be fair at least.

Re: WINNER | Love Letter Competition

The problem is people are not open and share their feelings with identities. Most of the entries followed the funnier side and this notion that we want to know identity of posters at any cost, whether they are comfortable with that or not, tells us why people are hesitant and participating in such competitions.

As mahool said, love letters were little sensitive issue and people don't want to disclose their ids because they would then have been subject to many questions (if not in public forum , then in fb and other groups). We, therefore, gave a chance to those posters, but the mistake we did (we acknowledge it) was not letting other posters known that there are some entries from anonymous posters (as we inadvertently thought that its not a big deal and people will not bother about it).

Considering this attitude, I have asked mahool to take a break from competitions, as its tough for us to accommodate all the concerns at a time. I do appreciate and thank all the posters for their interest and participation in these competitions.

Re: WINNER | Love Letter Competition

...judges competition kii quality kaa bhii ta'aiyun kar sakte haiN points de kar.
