I strongly believe two people in strong professional commitments don’t go well, and have come across numerous examples. If they are getting along well, they just have very lower benchmarks of expectations.

My wife took it to next level, she is committed to give attention to my parents, and other places, where I can’t due to my busy schedule! I realized this, when, after only two months in my marriage, she flew to Pakistan, on extremely short notice, to present her self on funeral of someone, I should have attended. Later I got a call from my cousins, telling me how grateful they were!

To answer op’s question,

I don’t mind, I want her to have her own career/something to fall back on and if she makes more than me, more power to her. If I don’t have a job, she can cover, if I die, she can continue living. I also understand from an islamic standpoint her money is her money. I have no control over it. Whatever she chooses to do with it is her thing. Khadijah was bankin when Prophet Mohammed (SAW) married her as well.

Although, I would like her to take care of the kids until they start going to school though, and what Bakhabar said about professional commitents is true. Once you start in a company if your a supervisor or manager more responsibility and more commitments are given to you which might directly conflict with your family commitments.

But what do I know really?..I’m still looking and haven’t really been married yet, I might have an idealistic view of things.
