A muslimah in many islamic republics has about "zero" rights compared to men. she has to cover herself because she has no other option other than that as her family, imams, clerics etc make it mandatory for her to cover herself up to be considered a decent woman.
in the case of a nun, she more often than not chooses nun-hood voluntarily and there is (in most cases) no compulsion for her to become a nun. besides i personally know of enough cases where the woman renounces nun-hood after some years and resumes normal life without any subsequent turbulence or "fatwas" or threats to her life.
so there you have the difference.

let me ask a question... is islam a job? or is it a religion?
when you dedicate urself to a subject say science then people will say u have potential because the future holds many great job opportunites that will open up as a result of ur study of your subject.
when you dedicate urself to islam, what does ur future hold out for you...the answer is seclusion. why?? because we live in a multi faith, cosmopolitan society(unless u live in a extremist regime govt in the middle east). in a multi-faith society, its imperative tht you have the ability to accept and show love to people irrespective of their religion. when you dedicate yourself to a religion say islam, then you most probably will be spending time in company of religious clerics and in the mosque. we all know(truthfully) the general attitude prevelant among these people towards people of other faiths and their conceptions of people from other religions. thus, there is a very high probability tht a person who spends time with them will inherit a lot of their beliefs and keep a distance from people of other faiths in day to day lives. now do you get the reason why it happens so.

this happens to be a rare case scenario. most universities dont prevent students from wearing hijab. however, this cant be called as a descrimination against muslims only as SIKHS are also disallowed from wearing the turban in france.also, christians are frequently disallowed from carrying miniature replicas of the crucifix. so this doesnt exactly come under discrimination of muslims per se. if a university has rules disallowing a certain religious practice in ur article of clothing, the you probably need to follow it rather than question it. after all, it was you who joined the university...they didnt invite you to them. if a student is so persistent about wearing religious articles of clothign, the it also becomes their duty to make sure the university they wanna join allows it, bfore enrolling itself. that way there wont be any conflicts.

yes, this is unfair to a degree.
but there has always been large amounts of evidence of religious places like mosques being used by terrorists to plan out their attacks. actually madarrssas are to blame for this. they have shown blindness in terms of reforming themselves with time and have been breeding grounds of miscreants. evenn one of the london bombers was reported to have been infected with terroristic beleifs after a brief stay at a madarrsa in pak. so i guess the answer lies in cleaning up the madarrsas and keeping a check on them or else i'm afraid these things will continue to trouble normal muslims

look friend, religion is a personal set of beliefs. if there is trouble one needs to find solutions keeping a broader perspective. if it is a personal matter and you think you can find your solutions in religion, then well and good. but if its not a personal matter and a public one then i suggest its always in better interest of everyone to do what is correct and we all are intelligent enough to judge tht for ourselves without support from scriptures.
