Re: Why Was Salman Taseer buried in a Casket?
from what i hear from a reliable source, when dignitaries are buried, since there is a certain protocal and fanfare that is given to their funeral and it is being telecasted around the world and so on, they lower the casket with the flag and all as part of protocol. it is later that with just immediate family the body is taken out and buried with the kafan only, with appropriate procedure. makes sense, since its such a private and aggrieved moment for the family, i’m sure they do not want to do that with the entire world watching and cameras eagerly focused for every slip of the kafan to catch the dead man’s final glimpse. it was noticable that the grave was pretty shallow when they lowered the coffin, and they put slabs across the opening of the grave instead of filling the grave with soil leaving a big gap btw the opening and the casket, they just covered the slabs with soil on top which can be easily removed i am sure.

u mean they exhaume the body later on? i don’t think so. well, jews bury their dead in just shroud [kafan] so why are we trying to be holier than thou? [or holier than cow! lol]**
