Chota - It’s worth having a read of the whole thing, N Korea is a country built on warfare and defense, however it’s best defence is offence.

The nation is often said to be in a bad state of affairs, with millions going hunngry etc. That may be the case but it seems that militarily it can knock the sh!t out the US in the region and is best deemed to be ‘left alone’.

The Koreans don’t say much but carry a big sspike encrusted stick.

N. Korea Says It Is Making Nuclear Bombs

SEOUL, South Korea - North Korea (news - web sites) said Thursday it has completed reprocessing its 8,000 spent nuclear fuel rods and is using plutonium extracted from them to make atomic bombs.

“The (North) successfully finished the reprocessing of some 8,000 spent fuel rods,” a spokesman for North Korea’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by the North’s official news agency, KCNA. The spokesman was not named.

Accusing the United States of taking a “hostile policy” toward the North, the statement said that North Korea “made a switchover in the use of plutonium churned out by reprocessing spent fuel rods in the direction increasing its nuclear deterrent force.”

North Korea also said it will reprocess more spent fuel rods to be produced from the small reactor in its main nuclear complex in Yongbyon, north of Pyongyang.

Earlier this week, North Korea claimed that it was taking “practical measures” to boost its nuclear weapons program as a deterrent against what it calls a U.S. plan to invade.

The claim came as some U.S. intelligence analysts are becoming increasingly concerned that the communist regime may have three, four or even six nuclear weapons instead of the one or two the CIA (news - web sites) had estimated.

New atomic bombs would give Pyongyang more authority at the negotiating table, and may allow it to part with one, either in a test or by selling it, experts say.

The United States and its allies are trying to persuade North Korea to give up its nuclear programs. The North says it will do so only if the United States signs a nonaggression treaty, provides economic aid and opens diplomatic ties.

The nuclear dispute flared in October 2002 when U.S. officials said North Korea admitted running a secret nuclear weapons program in violation of international agreements.

North Korea has nuclear bombs nothing too alarming in that i mean the US of A has plenty of nuclear bombs so has Russia!

And if anyone is going to lecture us about the crazy dictator of north korea all i can say to them is compare Kim Jong Il to Bush and tell me which one is crazier :konfused:

Fact is..NK is scared sihtless. It wants to have engage the US but we have the upper hand. We will let the flunkies like China, China and China deal with them becaue hostilities in the Korean peninsula means bye bye 8% y/y growth. Not-so-great china is the flunkie that will deal with this, how we want it....when we want it.

Frankly the article you posted is a poorly written analysis by a writer who formed his conclusion long before writing the “article”. The worst type of military analysis is one where a simple count is taken of the number of planes, tanks, and missles. Noth Korea has missles, but no intelligence on where to aim them. They have planes, but no gas to fly them and pilots who have no flying time. The author conveniently forgets to mention B-1s, B2’s, F-117’s, and JDAMS, as if American airpower is limited to a few F15’s The Author also conveniently forgets to mention a very moderna nd well equipped SOUTH KOREA. Ooops.

Let’s face it, there are those who are just waiting to see someone, anyone, give the US a bloody nose. Even if they represent a godless, failing, totalitarian personality cult. Well, don’t count on your next hero being North Korea. The US military was designed to fight and win against the Russians, North Korea is a far cry from them, infact they are the perfect stand-off enemy.

The only thing that makes Noth Korea vaguely scary is thier bizzare and unpredictable behavior, and the fact that the DMZ is so close to Seoul, that there would be horrific civilain casualties ina conflict.

Osama has already given the US a bloody nose.

North Korea on the other hand would put US in a wheel chair or six feet under. This is a fact.

If the US was so confident of it's power, Kim would of been taken care of ages ago. However, unfortunately it seems that Kim is not a Muslim!

Wars are not won with might alone. It takes a combination of might, strategy, willpower, bravery, technology?, patience and solidarity.

As an example, US might be to most technologically advanced military nation, but look at the problems it has had and is having with 'stone throwers'? Why, because it hasn't got all the ingredients in place to deal with them, let alone Kim.
