of course possession of illegal weapons is banned[meaning having weapons w/o license], which is true for any country

And as far as the drugs go.. there are good drugs and bad drugs…soo it all comes down to what drugs u use, how u use them, where u use them and so on…

NOW SUPPOSE that even if the drugs and weapons were BANNED by us humans, then just think of it for a moment; should we BAN something which “some humans” use it for the wrong purpose?

Similarly should the religion be banned because some ppl take advantage of it? And then deprive millions of “religious ppl” who are on the right path. Is that the right thing to do? I don’t think if this would be a rational approach!

Looking from ur point of view about banning the BAD things from our lives…why not look at everything…how about banning TECHNOLOGY?? Coming to think of the bad this TECHNOLOGY THING have done, it should be banned right away.. who cares if it has brought comfort in our lives tooo !!! that includes tv, internet, cars*

Well what do u say? Can u imagine to live ur life without the luxuries due to this “so called” CRIMINAL(technology)? That means no tv, no car, no internet(by the virtue of which this discussion is taking place in the first place

I delivered a debate once and the topic was “I.T. has converted us into unethical machines”..Of course I spoke against the topic..and my argument was very simple; its us humans who have “misused” technology…

we humans can MIS/USE any tool we want…I guess that’s what makes us different FROM animals.

U mentioned scriptures by which I assume u are talking about Hinduism.. I would SINCERELY advise you to try reading Quran or Bible. PICK ONE but do read all of them..[make a comparison and decide for urself]!! After all what have u got to lose? Don’t u feel that u might be missing something? Why look at all those who use religion in a wrong way? Look at them who have used the religion to benefit from it in a positive way. And yes if u are wondering if I am aware of different religions or not then BELIEVE me I am pretty much contented with my religion

Suicide bombers..Gujarat genociders..frankly speaking..i really don’t want to talk about them as they are very sensitive issues. BUT in short I will just say that the true story is a lot different then what’s shown in the media..I would encourage you to read other posts related to them.

Thanks everyone for the nice discussion. I can conclude just one thing - We SEAsians are destined never to become a world power, like bangladeshis we will be spiritually happy beggars. We are beggars - for each and every need of ours we have to look to the west. We are destined for it because of our obsession for religion.
As per someone's suggestion(heart beat) to read Quran and Bible, i have read almost all the scriptures in my quest for truth(Gita, Bible and Quran) and have concluded that these books are good, but since they are being grossly misinterpreted it is time we burn all of them and start life afresh. Btw, my dream is to see SEAsia as a super-power where our youth don't die for religion, where our children don't have to learn the lessons of hatred and where our sisters and mothers aren't widowed and orphaned for sake of religion.
Hope my dream comes true. I am equally for/against all religions-all of them are equally good and qually misunderstood.

do u REALLY think that by asking this question from “anybody” who is on the brink of losing faith in religion/or who has never had a concept of God; would suddenly start loving God!
