There are two issues of blasphemy, there is a Hadees (Prophet SAW saying) no one could be true Moomin till he loves me more then anything in the world. And all the Sahaba call him O Rasool Allah my parent would secrify on you.
So when a Muslim declare that he loves Prophet of Allah more then every thing in the world, so if he come across someone disrespect full / Blasphemious towards Rasool Allah SAW surely he might kill the person on ground of extreme provocation.
But when talk about having law, one must follow the saying and deeds of prophet SAW, it is clear that Prophet SAW forgiven most of culprits.
Here is the Ulama says since blasphemy is towards prophet SAW, so he was the only one could have forgave, as long as we are concern since we have no right to forgive blasphemy on behalf of Prophet SAW, thus death sentence is a must.
I am not satisfy with this line of argument, as believe Prophet SAW’s conduct on 99% cases should be rule. I have no problem in death sentence in cases of extreme or serial blasphemy.
