Why Muslims Dont Eat Pig???

This type of rule is exactly what makes established religions ridiculous, and to a certain extent, illegitimate. Isn't it clear to any sane person that this "law" was recorded in the Koran and the Bible's Old Testament because eating pork, at the time they were written, was often met w/fatal consequences (thanks to trichinosis, primarily). It's now known that w/proper cooking pork is fine to eat, and actually better for you than beef.

Why would God care if you ate pork? It doesn't make sense people! Why would the omniscient and omnipotent creator make ridiculous rules like "you have to wear a yamaka at certain times", or "pray while pointed in this direction a certain number of times per day" etc... to prove your devotion and peity?

Who has the right set of laws? Is the pope going to hell because he didn't follow the right rules, regardless of all the good work he has done in his life.

Why would God have created us as self-aware beings just to see if we could successfully follow these mindless laws? Is he being Ironic?

Why is Pork Forbidden?

Question: Why is the eating of pork forbidden in Islam?
Answer: The fact that consumption of pork is prohibited in Islam is well known. The following points explain various aspects of this prohibition:

1. Pork-prohibited in Qur’an The Qur’an prohibits the consumption of pork in no less than 4 different places. Its prohibited in 2:173, 5:3, 6:145 and 16:115.

Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked a name other than that of Allah. [Al-Qur’an 5:3] The above verses of the Holy Qur’an are sufficient to satisfy a Muslim as to why pork is forbidden.

2. Pork prohibited in the Bible
The Christian is likely to be convinced by his religious scriptures. The Bible prohibits the consumption of pork, in the book of Leviticus and the swine, as he divideth the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you. Leviticus chapter 11 verse 7 and 8:

Pork is also prohibited in the book of Deuteronomy
And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass. Deuteronomy chapter 14 verse 8:

A similar prohibition is repeated in the book of Isaiah chapter 65 verse 2-5.

3. Consumption of pork causes several diseases
The other non-Muslims and atheists will agree only if convinced through reason, logic and science. Eating of pork can cause no less than seventy different types of diseases. A person can have various Helminthes, like roundworm, pinworm, hookworm, etc. One of the most dangerous is Taenia Solium, which in a layman’s terminology is called tapeworm. It harbours in the intestine and is very long. Its ova i.e. eggs, enter the blood stream and can reach almost all the organs of the body. If it enters the brain it can cause memory loss. If it enters the heart it can cause heart attack and if it enters the eye it can cause blindness. If it enters the liver it can cause liver damage. It can damage almost all the organs of the body.

Another dangerous helminthes is Taenia Tichurasis. A common misconception about pork is that if it is cooked well, these ova die. In a research project undertaken in America, it was found that out of twenty-four people suffering from

Taenia tichurasis, twenty two had cooked the pork very well. This indicates that the ovas present in the pork do not die under normal cooking temperature.

4. Pork has fat building material
Pork has very little muscle building material and contains excess of fat. This fat gets deposited in the vessels and can cause hypertension and heart attack. It is not surprising that over 50% of Americans suffer from hypertension.

5. Pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth
The pig is one of the filthiest animals on earth. It lives and thrives on muck, faeces and dirt. It is the best scavenger that I know that God has produced. In the villages they don’t have modern toilets and the villagers excrete in the open air. Very often excreta is cleared by pigs.

Some may argue that in advanced countries like Australia, pigs are bred in very clean and hygienic conditions. Even in these hygienic conditions the pigs are kept together in sties. No matter how hard you try to keep them clean they are filthy by nature. They eat and enjoy their own as well as their neighbour’s excreta.

6. Pig is the most shameless animal
The pig is the most shameless animal on the face of the earth. It is the only animal that invites its friends to have sex with its mate.

We can eat beef, but a bull can go around having sex with tons of other cows... That is until some stronger bull comes along and takes over...
Yet we still eat beef?!?

if you dont know what your talking about dont say anything. Having high morals are a part of life not just to be used when it comes to one issue of life.

And to answer you naive question about four wives.. thats only under certain circumstances. IE there is a widowed woman who may fall prey to adultery you can marry only with the consent of you current wife and on the condition that you can afford to treat both equally.
CHECK YOURSELF

"Widowed woman who may fall prey to adultery"..what the hell is that?

no speka englis??

Just for the record, and maybe nothing (or everything) to do with pigs - how can a man determine the emotional affordability of taking on extra wives? Surely there are more considerations than the man's financial status. What woman (except one in a subservient, male dominated relationship) would in her right mind give her consent to share her husband with others?

^maybe if she cant bear children?

Why, is adoption haraam?

^ no i dont think so. But not everyone wants to adopt, if you want to have your own child and you wife is willing then go right ahead. :)

I didnt know adoption was haram...

And to answer your first question.. Islam is based on helping others and no woman would have to be in a male dominated relationship to help a sister in distress.. I agree there are emotional issue to work out..
but you have to remember the great and JUST people that Islam is modelled after.

In all honesty, with women being able to take care of themselves now..this issue is becomming less and less of an issue everyday.

If you have a wife that is willing to let you have a baby with another “wife”, she is either totally dominated by the husband or lacks any common sense. So he can go pork another woman, just as long as he doesn’t eat pork :mudhosh:

Hmmm, which one of these two actions would truly be approved by God before the other?

All nutritionists believe; You Are What You Eat; and quiet frankly I don't want to be a pig.

Senorita Muniya..como las viudas cometen adulterio? En espanol solamente por favor...gracias.

How can you so accurately predict the womens feelings who is letting her husband marry again, no matter how rare it might be.

Eating Pork is prohibited, because Quran says so!!!! and Quran is the word of God!!! It is unchallengable. If non-Muslims do not agree, than it is their choice, and they may go eat as much pig as they want. It won't make any difference to Muslims.

Non-Muslims should first read the Quran and try to recognize that it is the word of God, and each and every injuction in Quran is for the benefit of mankind! It brings out the mankind from darkness to light!

Some people just love to argue! I think we need to talk about why Hindus worship monkeys, snakes and elephants made by themselves?

i agree with above and i think its question of how strong is, ones beleif and fatih in Allah and Islam.

I do not want to disrespect anybody's religion or belief. But I also demand respect for my religion. The arguments for not eating pork have been very clearly presented (although as Muslims we do not even care why, since God said so).

I do request non-Muslims to first understand the Islamic concept of monotheism, and then talk about the minor details.
