Why India is not Pakistan

Some1bhai,

First things first. Itna jazbaati mat ho, yaar. You cant quit after 9 years (marked by some very high quality postings) based on one disagreement.

Especially this one, where even as a fellow Indian, I have to say I'm not sure I see your point that Pak-inspired elements would plot to undermine cricket fixtures in the country. Clearly anything is possible from a speculative standpoint, but your theory appears fly in the face of all logic and facts to date.

As you yourself say, all the terror attacks in India (Pak-inspired or not) have targeted local targets, not foreigners. The logic presumably being that the target demographic they are trying to spread terror in is the local population. If the terrorists really wanted to attack westerners as has been the case in Pakistan, they have more (and less difficult) opportunities than in Pakistan, given the greater number of westerners that move around freely in every big city in India. Yet they have not done this. Given all this, to assume that a terrorist outfit would attack foreign cricketers (much better protected than your average foreign tourist) would be to believe that their only goal was to sabotage cricket in India. I am having a tough time seeing this being a major consideration for any terrorist outfit. I can see a terrorist outfit (whether local or outside) wanting to create panic among westerners in India, but there are many easier ways of doing this than to target one of the most highly-protected subsets of this group, the foreign cricketers.

Got to agree with fkan2 bhai on this. Also think he has conducted this entire discussion in a very decent manner.

So I hope you will realize this after some reflection and come back. We need you before the Aus series starts, boss. Cant imagine an India series without the classic Some1 rips on some Indian player starting with "I told you so" :)
