if you present a point and your opponent is unable to satisfactorily answer then at least you come across as having some substance…but when you attack something as unrelated as the faith of his ex-inlaws you just destroy your own credibility.

No he is talking from a false perception of “nobility” of his point of view, he wants to debate but thinks that hardly anyone can argue to his level.
