Re: Why I have problem with reinstating CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry
The Cheap Musharraf was thinking he has a real chance of coming back. He started meeting politicians in Isloo and Karachi in last two weeks. What a moron!
The reality is Military was not ready to take over at any price as it knows people are really angry at Mush’s 9 years of tyranny. It was also a matter of survival for Zardari, he would have been vanished from the Pakistani politics forever. He still cannot recover this damage rest of his life. People thought of him as thug from the day he was engaged to ZAB’s daughter, he confirmed that image in 90s and now just put a concrete on it that he is a low life wadera and nothing else. NZ knew he couldn’t repair his chickening out of 2000 deal even if he gave away all of his weath to the poor of Pakistan. So he rode on CJ issue and stuck to it, showing himself as a changed NZ with no self agenda (the spoiled baby of our system).
Let see how many days pass by before AZ and NZ sack Ifti again. This CJ will not run this conquering instituation mentality of our leaders. ISI deputy will not like to stand in court mumbling on lost people’s cases. The core issues are same, the powerfull elite of our country is not used to of justice.
Re: Why I have problem with reinstating CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry
the whole episode is amusing.
this judge who represents one of the most historically pliant judiciaries in the world and brazenly compromised his professional integrity less than 10 years ago...is hailed as the beacon of pakistani democracy and inspires marches, protests, etc.
You can be sure of one thing. If Ifiti angers the current COAS, you can bet Kayani will not treat him with kids gloves like Musharraf did - Ifti will simply be taken out back and shot.
Why all military chamchas or (MQM suppoters for that matter) speak in their threatening tone? This time it might be your Mush, Kiyani, Altaf, Zardari or NS. These filth should be wiped out from the face of Earth.
I agree with Shamraz, After all this drama they put up and didn't care abt the image of Pakistan or Pakistan and it;s people, I don't feel happy at all. It was never a war for justice they made it like personal wars! If he was so loyal to Pakistan, he should have gone back before putting Pakistan at stake!
You think when an army dictator takes over in Pakistan the image of Pakistan is enhanced in the world. When an army dictator sacks the whole judiciary of Pakistan and arrests as many as 60 judges of higher courts the image of Pakistan is enhanced. Well I am surprised Mr. Salman Taseer has another person who thinks just like him...
Shame on you for calling this totally peaceful movement for restoration of rule of law by the people of Pakistan as distortion of Pakistan's image. On the contrary this was the single best thing happened in years of history of Pakistan which enhaned the image of Pakistani people who have shown to the world that they are capable of running a totally peaceful movement for the supremacy of law, and the people are vibrant and alive who stand for all the good principles.
I think you missed the news when Harvard law gave CJ the "Freedom Award" given to only two individuals prior to him or when New York bar gave him lifetime membership given to only five persons prior to him. This type of recognition was excellent for Pakistan's image in contrast to the dictators November 3rd actions when he sacked the entire judicial system of Pakistan and arrested the judges through an illegal order.
I think you need to revisit your views on the movement which has shown the world that Pakistani nation has the capacity to stand for what is right, principled, legal, moral, and above all beneficial for the long term betterment of the country. This is a changed Pakistan and the world is recognising the fact.
Well that's not going to happen. By being appointed 'after' CJ Dogar retires, Iftikhar Chaudhary has quite rightly accepted that everything that has gone before is indeed legal. The wording of the speech and the manner of appointment of Iftikhar Chaudhary after CJ Dogar retires is very important. Samajhnay walay Samajhjaingay. :)
Well, he is not going to retake the oath which means his tenure continue "uninterrupted" & therefore he was/is the de jure CJ where Dogar was de facto CJ (kind of like stop gap/acting CJ) due to circumstances that we're all familiar with. So, there is no question of "appointment". I saw PM's speech & he said he was reinstating the deposed judges & not reappointing them. As for the legal part, all supreme court judgments can be review by the SC & what is legal today many not be legal tomorrow.
Question is, should this independent judicery open old cases? what you think?
cases like
1. Who ordered the 1997 mob attack on supreme court of 13th Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah?
Yes, Why not?
They should even open old cases like all the previous martial laws and give verdict according to the law of Pakistan and not the law of necessity and put the record straight once for all...
