Pukeland: DO people in Pakistan dress, eat, speak the same?

at least Pakistanis are proud of their culture.. and everybody understand the National language unlike south indians who just cant understand their national bhasha hindi… Please take a few moments to look at the following article

Dravidian tongues are derived from a language spoken in India prior to the invasion of the Aryans c.1500 B.C.

Punjabi 48%, Sindhi 12%, Siraiki (a Punjabi variant) 10%, Pashtu 8%, Urdu (official) 8%, Balochi 3%, Hindko 2%, Brahui 1%, English (official and lingua franca of Pakistani elite and most government ministries), Burushaski, and other 8%

only dravidian language spoken in pakistan
is brahui

But they ALL understand Urdu.
even if they have their own regional
language.

all the different languages of pakistan is
unique and they have the right to preserve
it.

The reason most Pakistanis can understand Urdu maybe is because Punjabi, Sindhi, Hindko etc. share a lot of the same vocab and are the same gramatically. And along with the Urdu speakers I think they probably make up perhaps 75-80% of the population. Now the South Indian languages are part of a totally different language family so it is harder to understand Hindi for them than it is for most Pakis to understand Urdu. As far as the expat communities go Indians still don't need to learn Hindi since there are a lot of times enough people who speak their native tongue in the country they r going to. Wheras for Pakis the same may not be true so they may have to speak Urdu even if they'd rather speak another language.

Well, there are over 36 languages spoken in Pakistan, and very few are similar to Urdu. Everybody know that it is our National language and it is a great medium to communicate with people who have a different background. I am not against any language but I think there should be one common language for people living in one country.
like people speak so many different languages in the U.S. but almost everybody understand English as it is a common medium here.

If somebody has an answer or thought about the original topic (i.e Why some hindus don't eat meat).. Please reply. Otherwise please don't change the topic again. Thanks.

why? some dont eat for religious some dont
because of ethical reasons. some cant afford to eat
. some dont eat for health reasons.
still you cant generalise.

is there any pakistani vegetarians?
is it against islam to be vegetarian?

Yes there are vegis in Pakistan as well. It is not against Islam to be vegetarian but it is against Islam to say that it is Un-ethical to be non-veg. Get my point. On the basis of health one can become a vegetarian but I have not seen a pakistani who is also a vegi. There must be some though...

So get 2 Indians into discussion,YOU NEVER GET A straight answer.

Question was ,is vegeterianism part of Hindu religion.Apparently one Hindu believes NOT.You can be cannibal & hindu ,

So why is it that Hindutva govt.try to make it a hindu issue not to allow Muslim to eat according to there own culture??non veg & beef

I dont know why we should be lead by indians into side tracking into Hindi & regional languages, when they are ducking one question./??

The most evasive ppl. you can get & thats why there is problem while discussing with India either Kashmir or religion.

Whom to believe a CANNIBAL hindu or Vegeterian urine drinking Hindu ?? that is the question.

barque(bijli) yoon akadti hai apne karname pe ke
jaise phir naya hum aashiyaan bana nahi sakte

There is a shloka in VEDAS 'JEEV HI JEEVASYA BHOJANAM' meaning animal
is the food of animal. Now comes why is it prescribed to be vegetarian
.I think that my Muslim freinds will agree that we are born as an animal
The soceity and its rules makes us a social animal, but yet the word
animal is there. Now it has been prescribed to be vegetarian so that
we move up from the traits of an animal. There may be cannibals(as is said
about hindus);there may be vegis too; beleive no-one but just your inner-self.
Now,regarding so many funny replies which i saw,i remember a program which
i saw on CNN by Riz Khan;in HAZ,during pilgrimage meat eating is prohibited
;just think why is it so and you will get the answer to the question that
why hindus don't eat meat.

I don’t know about india, but in Pakistan, people always born as human beings..

back on the topic, if there is a shloka in VEDAS ‘JEEV HI JEEVASYA BHOJANAM’

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/confused.gif

thinking what does 'shokla means ,
than why some hindus eat meat? why not every hindu aviod it?

I think it is 'jivam jivasya jivanam' and i dont think it is in vedas. there is no restriction to meat eating in hinduism. there may be restriction on brahmis eating meat though. but it is more traditional than religious cuz bengali brahmis eat fish.
