Re: Why do Muslims blindly support fellow Muslims?
Why should I kick a fellow Muslim when he or she is down, especially for the edification of others...or for the sake of projecting some God-forsaken "image"?
As for supporting Muslims when they're obviously in the wrong...only when those opposing them are just as wrong, if not more. Even then, my "support" is distant, and simply to expose the hypocrisy of those who hate anything remotely traditional and religious...
Re: Why do Muslims blindly support fellow Muslims?
Hope we remember this hadith as well.
“The Muslim Ummah is like one body. If the eye is in pain then the whole body is in pain and if the head is in pain then the whole body is in pain”
I am not a muslim, but I think this quote would mean - If a part of the body is in pain then try to heal it, otherwise the whole body would feel the pain. For example if there is a muslim doing wrong, try to bring him/her to the right path rather than cheering him up, so that all muslims don't suffer.
Re: Why do Muslims blindly support fellow Muslims?
Supporting a transgressor doing obvious wrong because of any type of affiliation is ignorant.
How many Americans support the US army, in spite of the inherent evil (to borrow neo-con parlance) in current American policy? I'm not talking about pity for the situation of the average soldier...I'm talking about unquestioning loyalty to the Army...and is such support not considered a patriotic virtue?
Re: Why do Muslims blindly support fellow Muslims?
Muslims should support Bush bcoz he's attacking only muslim countries.
Well... I don't support Bush... but I also don't think I would support somebody else who was just as bad just so I could keep not supporting Bush... Supporting an evil just to keep from supporting another evil is still supporting evil...

Taking both the hadiths into account the eye should never be in pain because you should stop the transgression that allowed for the pain in the first place... and if the eye does become infected then someone messed up along the way because it never should have happened... It all interconnects... And if your eye does hurt you're probably going to do something to make it stop hurting... you're hopefully not going to just let it continue to be infected and have the infection spread... This hadith only supports the first statement, which was "don't support each other blindly."
Re: Why do Muslims blindly support fellow Muslims?
I don't know about that, I can't generalize as much, but when Saddam invaded Kuwait and took over I don't think many Pakistanis cried as much except for the ones who were directly affected. But when Saddam was threatened and attacked by US (and allied forces??) in 1991 the 'religious' groups shouted slogans "qadam barhao Saddam ham tumharay saath hayn". That is one example I can think of when "Muslims" blindly supported another "Muslim" irrespective of what he did (policies).
The reason I can think of is probably the "past glories" that Muslims keep hearing about as well as expected 'messiah' who will restore Muslim respect and glory. So in every "Muslim" leader who shows some aggression against current powerful nations Muslims start to think of him as 'the (promised) one'.
I do not know how you came up with this statement. If you were sleepy or under the influence of sleeplessness.
No muslims that I know is supporting other muslims just beacause the reasons you allegedly put forward.
Its never been in Islamic to go against any powerful nation by muslims unless it goes out on rampage and openly brutally goes against humanity.
