I have myself lately come to the end of my tolerance for Islam's backward treatment of women. The idea that women must cover themselves because men cannot control themselves is simply blaming the victim for someone else's problem. And I dont' believe it is true that someone getting a gander at my zulfon is going to drive off the road or end his marriage or get a permanent and uncontrollable erection. (Ain't happened yet!)
Why in Islam are men so much weaker than women that they must be protected from us? That's ridiculous. Hmmn - does that mean that men in non-Muslim societies are somehow stronger or simply better behaved than Muslim men?
Why does the sanction of four wives continue in the modern world? We don't live in 7th century tribal worlds anymore. Slaves were also legal back then - should that also be legal and practiced?
I have heard for 30 years about how Islam raised the status of women 13 centuries ago. That's it? No more progress? Talk about sitting on one's laurels!
Women are treated as second-class citizens in many societies, in many ways. Ways we are often not even aware of. But if you take some statement or hukm that applies to women and change it to one that applies to, say, somone of colour, or someone who speaks this language not that, then you can see it is just discrimination.
All who agree with this post, your going against the word of Allah. Have some shame will you? If you don't like Islam, just go logon to a Atheist forum.
@hitchki, wah, when you can't handle the replies, foran lock the thread? Women are weak. Just end it with that.

I asked it to be locked when I got the divine message that gupshups very own Templar was going to make a nonsenscial appearance in my thread. And here you are.
Anyhoo, the thing is sweet hicthki that when you open a thread, you should be ready for all kind of replies. Soft, harsh, intelligent, dumb. See, not everyone is as intelligent as you are and no one here claims to be as intelligent. You may need to lower your expectations next time you decide to open a thread.
We all just crawled out of our respective caves. Most of us are learning to stand on our two feet. Give us some time dude.
Just a friendly advice :)
TLK sweetu. You are the worlds worst director. You have no sense of objectivity or fairness. But that is just me buttering you up.
Next time, out of kindness. I'll open threads discussing the propensity of pakistani men sleeping with their miads. But this time I'll make the mid male, incase you think she did it out of Cricketplaya's coined "weakness".
