Why do languages die?

Re: Why do languages die?

Ajrak is not just limited to grooms. many people wear it during winters as shawl. I think like all attires, ladies of Sindh still keeping it intact by introducing it in new prints of clothes, patch-work, purses / handbags, etc.

But why is to so that some languages are less affected by globalisation as compared to others? Chinese do talk in their own language and their PM (who knows good English but use his own language even on official visits outside China) has reportedly said that he uses his own language to let world know that Chines are not dumb. I myself deal with some Chinese clients and they even sign in Chinese. During their meetings with us they kept on talking to each other in Chinese. Probably, sound position in technology and business, make people confident about their languages.
