imho, many muslims are more reluctant to accept new lifestyles, and give less importance to education, and this isn't doing them much good when it comes to jobs.
from my high school classmates (most of us were small-town middle class kids), most of the muslims got married early - the boys as soon as they had jobs, and the girls as soon as they were in college. some of the girls dont have a college degree, but have multiple kids already, almost none of them work. i was trying to update our batch's address list, and many of these kids have just faded away while the rest of us are building our relatively new professional careers.
Out of 10 Muslim students in my Class back in school i see one girl who has completed her medicine & one fellow (who happens to be my best friend) completed MS in US and working there. Rest are doing some petty jobs. I see many of my college muslim friends working for IT giants like Infosys
One thing i have noticed is, Muslims make a large workforce in garage business in INDIA.
