Re: Who’s responsible for 18th Oct Bomb Blasts in Karachi - Govt, PPP, Jihadis!? (mer

You are right. If it was not suicide attack than one have to see who could have benefited from this. I personally believe that it was suicide attack and religious fanatic (Iblis worshiper) has done that and would never blame PPP for doing that. But if it is not suicide bombing than most likely this was done by PPP, so that all talk of NRO disappears and PPP (especially BB) gain sympathy amongst voters.

I hope that you read about the reaction of BB after this bombing. What I read, she was having a good laugh. From article below by Ahmed Quraishi:

**‘**My one last observation is the distasteful way in which Mrs. Bhutto cracked a joke with foreign reporters at the end of the press conference she held at her house on 19 October on the Karachi carnage.

**Over 600 people were killed and injured because of her and she had the gall to stand there in front of rolling cameras to laugh and chuckle at what happened.’ **

After The Carnage: 10 Questions For Benazir Bhutto
By AHMED QURAISHI

In the interest of removing misunderstandings, the following ten questions must be posed to the leader of Pakistan Peoples Party Mrs. Benazir Bhutto after the worst incident of political violence in the modern history of Pakistan. Pakistanis hoped her return will ease tensions. But it appears she is part of the problem, not the solution.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan—Benazir Bhutto’s husband Asif Zardari accuses our intelligence agencies from his home in Dubai of orchestrating the attack on his wife, while Mrs. Bhutto, sitting in Karachi, pointedly refuses to blame the spooks even when reporters mention her husband’s statement.

This contradiction is just one of several questions that ordinary Pakistanis need to ask Mrs. Bhutto after the nation’s worst political violence in our modern history.

Far from the argument of her supporters that Mrs. Bhutto’s return to Pakistan will help ease political tensions, her first day on our soil has confirmed fears she is very much part of political friction. Her recent brand of politics has further divided Pakistanis instead of uniting them.

In the interest of removing misunderstandings, the following ten questions must be posed to the leader of Pakistan Peoples Party:

  1. Why didn’t you ask your supporters to avoid a mass rally when even your own friends in the Pakistani and foreign governments warned you about information that terrorists were planning an attack?

  2. Why did you refuse Pakistani government’s offer of providing you a helicopter to take you to your destination and insisted on leading a street procession, knowing that scores of innocent supporters will bear the brunt of any attack?

  3. Why did vanity have the best of you? Why wasn’t saving lives more important to you than showing the world that you’re still a populist leader?

  4. Why did you remove the bullet proof glass on your secured truck that was supposed to protect everyone in case of an attack? At least three senior party members sustained injuries because of this oversight?

  5. Why an important segment of the Pakistani public opinion believes that you have returned to Pakistan as an ‘American agent’?

  6. Why didn’t you bring your husband and at least two of your three children [one is studying in Europe] along with you to Pakistan to underscore your commitment to our nation and to silence your critics who insist you came here alone to test the waters?

  7. Why did you break the national consensus and announce you will allow foreign investigators access to our national hero Dr. A. Q. Khan?

  8. Why did you inform an American audience that you will allow foreign forces to conduct military operations on Pakistani soil?

  9. Why do you refuse to treat us Pakistanis as intelligent people who by now are fully aware that you and your husband have been found involved in scandalous corruption incidents? Why can’t you come clean on your alleged wealth of $ 1.5 billion dollars?

  10. How come you have joined India, Hamid Karzai, and the usual bunch of Pakistan-bashers in targeting and attempting to eliminate Pakistan’s intelligence agencies, which are an asset for any nation and a bulwark against saboteurs and criminals?

My one last observation is the distasteful way in which Mrs. Bhutto cracked a joke with foreign reporters at the end of the press conference she held at her house on 19 October on the Karachi carnage.

Over 600 people were killed and injured because of her and she had the gall to stand there in front of rolling cameras to laugh and chuckle at what happened.

Somehow this and the questions above reinforce the widespread skepticism across Pakistan about the quality of leadership that Mrs. Bhutto and the other power contenders will bring to the nation.

Re: Who's responsible for 18th Oct Bomb Blasts in Karachi - Govt, PPP, Jihadis!? (mer

Benazir Bhutto … Queen Bee hay :D. She don't care who dies and who lives as long as she can benefit from other people's ordeal, it is fine for her.

Re: Who's responsible for 18th Oct Bomb Blasts in Karachi - Govt, PPP, Jihadis!? (mer

many things.

MQM,
ppps main opponent of sindh, and their past history of violance, they could have certainly be involved in this. BIG POSSIBILITY.
chances they did it are 8/10

PPP itself could have done it, to gain sypathy
chances: 4/10
well i dnt think so as blast was right near the truck and bibi just about escaped, also what idiot will kill himself to give sypathy to bhutto.

PMLQ could have done it
chances: 5/10
well by looking at the choudarys reactions, they arnt to happy about her return and seemed shocked at her big support, and ppp will be a big oppent in the upcoming elections. POSSIBILTY.

PMLN could have done it
chances: 8/10
again, nawaz and pmln's main competitors in the upcoming elections, maybe nawaz was shocked at his poor reception that his pants fell off so he had to plan this attack to get rid of her, as she is most likly to wipe ganjas butt in an election if held today. BIG POSIBILITY

islamic fundamentals
chances: 8.5/10
well the warnings were given by them, taliban were ready to rock her. BIG POSSIBILITY

india could be involved
chances: 7/10
well they have always tried to interfer in pakistan to create havoc, weater its sunni-shia clashes, gawadar port, balochistan issue or any other. POSSIBILTY

my guess is that it could have been carried out by two groups togeher,
india and mqm, most probably.
pmln and mqm, also very likly
any of the 2 are my guess

What hapenend all this crying and whining some days ago of MQM-PPP reconciliation and now you are all saying the hostiilty is back? Only two forces in Pakistan who can and have massacred people in such large numbers: army and jihadis.

Figure out who has the motive to kill BB and you may get your answer. And this was definitely meant to kill BB.

Re: Who's responsible for 18th Oct Bomb Blasts in Karachi - Govt, PPP, Jihadis!? (mer

Suicide bombing is not the Army's style

They are more into controlled explosions, assassinations, poisoning.

While MQM and PPP are into drive by shootings, kidnapping and toture.

Suicide bombing is the premier means of tribal terrorists

Re: Who’s responsible for 18th Oct Bomb Blasts in Karachi - Govt, PPP, Jihadis!? (mer

hmm… This speaks alot about who is behind the attacks…

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and Federal Minister for Interior Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao have categorically rejected PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto’s demand to engage foreign experts in the process of investigations in the October 18 suicide attacks in Karachi.

“We categorically reject it. Our own investigation teams and police officers are competent enough to investigate such cases,” Sherpao said while talking to journalists here on Monday.

“In the past, terrorist attacks have been carried out against the president, the prime minister and even against me — all of these incidents were later investigated by our own officials and we did not seek help of any foreign expert in those incidents nor do we want it now,” Aftab Sherpao said

He said the provincial government has been directed by the Interior Ministry to objectively investigate the case, which is a very serious incident. He called the attacks a tragedy that has left the entire nation in deep grief but at the same time made it clear that foreign experts would not be hired for probe into the suicide blasts.

“Pakistani security officials are capable of reaching the bottom of the case and it is not appropriate to talk about seeking foreign assistance to investigate this incident,” he added. “We should have trust in our officers, experts and the investigating teams. They would objectively investigate it. And, God willing, they will reach the culprits soon,” he said.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz too brushed aside the demand by the PPP chairperson for foreign assistance in the bomb blasts investigation. While talking to a group of federal ministers at the PM Secretariat, the prime minister expressed confidence in the expertise and efficiency of the law-enforcing agencies saying the investigation being carried out by local police and security officials would lead to the perpetrators.

“The tragic incident of October 18 in Karachi is being investigated and the culprits will be brought to book. We have witnessed incidents of similar nature in the past but our security agencies successfully investigated and arrested the perpetuators. They are fully capable of investigating such untoward incident themselves,” the prime minister added.

He emphasized the need for closer coordination between the law-enforcing agencies and the political parties so that appropriate security plans could be prepared which are to be strictly adhered to by all the parties.

The meeting also condoled the death of innocent persons who lost lives in the Karachi bomb blasts and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed souls in peace and give courage to the bereaved families to bear the loss.

Meanwhile, the interior minister responding to a question in his talk with journalists said that no arrest has so far been made which might have any direct link with this case. Regarding the proposal to impose a ban on political activities, put forth by Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, the interior minister said with regard to the political activities the government has adopted a code of conduct. “We do want a ban on the processions and rallies. However, we do not want to impose ban on public meetings. So, for this purpose a place should be specified because amidst the prevailing circumstances our top concern is the protection of life and public property,” he said.

“We want to protect workers and leaders of political parties. There should be a specific place for holding public meetings. And provincial governments and district administrations should be informed to make appropriate security arrangements,” he added.

To a question as to when such a ban is likely to be imposed on processions and rallies, the interior minister said that the federal government has asked the provincial governments to discuss this issue with the political leadership as well the matter will be taken up here in Islamabad as well.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in his meeting with federal ministers said that PML and its coalition partners were confident of their success in the upcoming elections due to their performance and quality of candidates. He said that PML its allies believed in transparency and good governance to bring about a change in the life of the people.

He said the continuity and consistency of reforms policies introduced by the government would improve the standard of living of the people, by creating greater job opportunities and enhancing economic activities. The prime minister while highlighting the development and prosperity brought about in the rural areas of the country said that the infra structural development and provision of basis facilities, like education, health, electricity and clean drinking water in the rural areas have been at historic level.

The meeting also discussed the need for proper code of conduct for the political activities before, during and after the upcoming elections. The meeting was attended by the Minister for Food and Agricultural, Sikandar Hayat Bosan, Minister for Environment, Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, Minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Khan Ghouri, Minister for Science and Technology Ch Nouaiz Shakoor, Minister for Privatization Commission, Wasi Zafar, Minister for Communication, Shamim Siddiqui and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Tariq Javed.

By Asim Yasin

ISLAMABAD: Preliminary investigation into the Karachi blasts rejected the involvement of three persons named by Pakistan People’s Party Chairperson Benazir Bhutto as behind the incident.

The report about the October 18 carnage, prepared by seven security agencies, was submitted to President Gen Pervez Musharraf here on Monday. It suggests that it was a suicide attack and the prime target was Benazir but she survived due to the bulletproof truck.

According to sources, the report denied the involvement of the three persons that were named by Benazir Bhutto in her letter to the president before her arrival in Pakistan, alleging that the three might plan attack on her during her reception.

The sources said the report suggests that one of the blasts was a suicide attack and no evidence was available about the other explosion. The report viewed that the suicide attacker probably first hurled a hand-grenade and than blew himself up. Just before the blasts, Benazir went for rest in the internal portion of the bulletproof truck, therefore, she survived the attack, the report said.

The sources said during the investigation security and intelligence agencies have made some arrests. According to the report, the attack seemed to be a continuation of the Charsadda and Army Mess blasts.

The PPP showed dissatisfaction over the investigations being carried out by the security agencies. PPP spokesman Farhatullah Babar said that the only reason the bombers succeeded was because the lights had been shut on Shahrae Faisal and consequently the approaching car and bombers could not be spotted and hid in the dark.

He said the PPP views lack of streetlights on Shahrae Faisal as a deliberate act of sabotage to facilitate the bombers. Babar said the PPP has asked for DIG Manzoor Mughal to be excluded from the investigation. DIG Mughal was the officer present when Asif Ali Zardari was nearly killed as a result of police torture in 1999 and was only saved due to the intervention of the courts, the media, the diplomatic community and the then governor.

He said the PPP has given a panel of police officers to the regime from whom persons for the inquiry should be picked. He said the PPP has called for a Pakistani inquiry into the bomb blasts and asked the government to seek technical cooperation from international experts who have experience of investigation into terrorist attacks.

He said the government had told the PPP that it could not provide more than three police vehicles at any time, which meant one part of Benazir Bhuttoís vehicle would be left unprotected from which terrorists could attack.

Re: Who's responsible for 18th Oct Bomb Blasts in Karachi - Govt, PPP, Jihadis!? (mer

Its all Musharraf's fault. He is the one brain washing these terrorists and telling them to blow themselves up and kill innocent people. Infact, it is Musharraf who keeps appearing in the Osama Bin Ladin avatar in the video's released by Al Qaeda every so often. Its Musharraf's fault that there was a huge earthquake a while ago in Pakistan and there was a big tragedy, we should bring foreign investigators to investigate that possibility as well. Its also Musharraf's fault when the Pakistani cricket team loses. Its also Musharraf's fault that 9/11 happened. Musharraf is the one who taught those Jihadi's who got shaheed how to fly a plane. Musharraf funded the whole operation. Its also Musharraf's fault that the bombings happened in Bali, Indonesia. It is also Musharraf's fault that taliban brain wash 5 year old kids to become Jihad's and blow themselves up in the name god so they can be considered Shaheed.

Don't you guys get it? Its all Musharraf's fault...

Re: Who's responsible for 18th Oct Bomb Blasts in Karachi - Govt, PPP, Jihadis!? (mer

Yesterday the hosts of BOLTA PAKISTAN were at it yet again! this time the center of arguments 'who is responsible for the bombing other than the ppl that did it obviously?'......Nusrat Javed is known for being the 'realistic' one of the two, while Mushtaq Minhas is the one that gets emotional and sways with situations. Nusrat Javed said '...Didn't these people CHOOSE to go despite the week of warnings that something might occur?' 'Didn't the people protecting the entourage print themselves shirts that read 'Jaan-Nisaran-E-Bhutto, for those of us that don't know what it means...it means 'Willing to die for the cause of Bhutto'....and they did (literally)'....so who ELSE really is to blame. While they shared the sorrow with the family of those that lost their loved ones, i too mourn for them deep down inside. But, it just brings yet another dimension to the debate. So lets not just dump the blame on the lady for returning. Analyze who's fault it really is. Hamid Mir (R) Dir. ISI came on GEO and said 'sure let the foreigns investigate, there's nothing wrong with that, FBI already hangs around within Pakistan, so what if they'll actually do something for the benefit of Pakistani public this one time!' WOW i say...WOW. Not only that he also suggested, i say suggested with the most caution because i'm not glorifying his P.O.V. but, he thought the agencies definately know everything, no doubt about it. Why they don't act on it is another story. He too left the marked man/men un-named.

Re: Who's responsible for 18th Oct Bomb Blasts in Karachi - Govt, PPP, Jihadis!? (mer

Okay :D

Now let me try to eliminate some of the choices:

  1. Religious fanatics: I don't know why they would take "revenge" from Bibi/PPP when they had nothing to do with Lal Masjid (directly).

  2. The governemnt i.e. the federal governement.: I wouldn't discount/eliminate this factor just yet as its not clear whether it could help Mushy at all... The only thought that comes is may be he is trying to show to "world" that fanatics are against Bibi so much therefore Bibi will fightback harshly against the "fanatics" ... hence everyone should support Mushy+Bibi combo.

  3. MQM to take revenge of its workers during PPP rule: Very unlikely, MQM is a flip-flop organization, they can do anything for their interests... they had big panga with army (perhaps back in 1988-1991) and now they are in bed with army.

  4. The PPP itself to get sympathy of people when it was declining on popularity.: May be the whole PPP is not involved, probably only Bibi alongwith a smaller "circle of trust".

  5. India to destabilize Pakistan: I think India would rather support Bibi to come into power to destabilize Pakistan :D

Re: Who's responsible for 18th Oct Bomb Blasts in Karachi - Govt, PPP, Jihadis!? (mer

You all are forgetting that ISI/army still has friends on the other side of fence, there is greater chance that the ISI urged/asked-favor by suicide-bomber-gang to help them out.

Re: Who's responsible for 18th Oct Bomb Blasts in Karachi - Govt, PPP, Jihadis!? (mer

^^ I dont think its that easy

The Army cannot call upon some suicide bomber to blow himself up at a political rally

these suicide bombers are driven by religious ferver and brainwashed to the bone

why would they blow themselves up for a secular army?

Re: Who’s responsible for 18th Oct Bomb Blasts in Karachi - Govt, PPP, Jihadis!? (mer

errrr… because the “whole” army is not “secular”, there are still many “Taliban” sympathisers there :halo:

Re: Who’s responsible for 18th Oct Bomb Blasts in Karachi - Govt, PPP, Jihadis!? (mer

So, taliban sympathizers in the army could be involved. Would this really be a new revelation? There are taliban sympathizers on this very forum. They could be involved too for all we know, especially since they hate women and especially BB so much. Remember PPP supported lal masjid operation. That alone could be enough.
