Arsenal’s Double dream dies as Leeds survive](http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/030504/21/dz7rc.html)

Arsenal’s Premiership title dreams are over after losing 3-2 at Highbury to Leeds, whose goal difference makes them safe from relegation.
Mark Viduka became the hero of both Elland Road and Old Trafford with a last-gasp winner as the Gunners handed Manchester United the title on a plate by crashing to defeat.

Arsenal twice hauled themselves back into contention, with Thierry Henry equalising Harry Kewell’s early opener and Dennis Bergkamp levelling again after Ian Harte’s free-kick had been deflected in.

However, while Arsenal hit the woodwork on three occasions, Viduka struck the late winner to not only confirm Manchester United as champions but also Leeds’ Premiership safety.

The visitors were in front after just five minutes. Jason Wilcox sent a long pass from defence down the left channel and Kewell outpaced two defenders, latched onto the ball and smashed his shot across goal and in.

The Aussie should have doubled the lead soon after but chose to round David Seaman when he should have shot and he then put the ball into the side netting.

But the Gunners equalised on the half hour, Ray Parlour’s 30-yard shot punched onto the post by a sprawling Paul Robinson and Henry arrived to nod in.

Michael Duberry cleared off the line before Sylvain Wiltord had a goal disallowed for offside.

Leeds were back in front though on 48 minutes, when Harte struck a free kick towards goal and Ashley Cole, on the edge of the wall and attempting to head clear, diverted it inside the far post.

Back came the Gunners again 15 minutes later, with Bergkamp scoring his first goal at Highbury this season, turning the ball in from close range after Robert Pires got free in the box.

Arsenal piled on the pressure thereafter but Leeds were resilient, and broke away on 88 minutes with Viduka - perhaps offside when the pass was played - on the right side of the box firing in the winner.

Manchester United are therefore the Premiership champions for the eighth time in 11 seasons while Arsenal’s hopes of an unprecedented ‘double Double’ lie in tatters. :teary1:

Arsenal have always been a sub-top team in my eyes.......how hard they try, they can never be equal to the likes of ManU, Real, Juve etcetc.

they have good players, but somehow the club itself is not big enough.

internationally, I won't rate them better than Borussia, Feyenoord, Deportive, Roma: all semi-top teams

So Beckham will stay at Man U. for the title defence then?
