Who was Mansoor ?

people lacking in spiritually.. so called jurists.. "wanna be protectors of faith" .. i cannot say that i'm very spiritual n all that, but at least i don't take up the job of killing ppl I THINK r wrong..

You don't need to name it because it's you. You're my scholar.

Precisely anyone who takes up killing anyone with accusation of apostacy is basically has zilch faith himself in any religion otheriwse they wud trust God to punish the socalled sinner in the way He dims fit..

Yes you are right noone should take the job of killing people udner presuption of any kind of lack of religiosity

Rumi later on clarified what actually Mansoor was doing when he said anal Haq.. Actually Mansoor didn't belive in existance of anythign other than God the absolute monotheism wherenothign beyond god exists and that's why he claim I am truth because any other stand in his view compromised the ominpresence and all encompassing trait of god..

there is nothign beyond Him hence anal-haq ..

No wonder the litralist who had no sense beyond the litral meaning coulnd not comprehend these super-exalted notions..

Re: Who was Mansoor ?

I have heard that according to some sufis, AnalHaq in itslef is negation of sufi doctrine of Wahdatulwajood. Because once Mansur said "I" am Haq, he deemed existence of something other than Haq.

As for being more objective assessment of Hallaj's death penalty, it is said to have a lot of other reasons mainly political. It is also claimed by shias that he tried to impose himself as deputy of 12 th Imam.

Re: Who was Mansoor ?

I don't know the whole story but this explanation by Rumi I found very interesting:

Rumi wrote on the claim "I am God" three centuries later:
People imagine that it is a presumptive claim, whereas it is really a presumptive claim to say "I am the slave of God"; and "I am God" is an expression of great humility. The man who says "I am the slave of God" affirms two existences, his own and God's, but he that says "I am God" has made himself non-existent and has given himself up and says "I am God," that is, "I am naught, He is all; there is no being but God's." This is the extreme of humility and self-abasement.

Re: Who was Mansoor ?

By the way guys on risk of being accused for changing the topic of debate I have a query about Jhulelal temple and its popularity in pakistan.. You know
damadam Mast Qalander fame.. Do hindu muslim all flock to this temple or it has been abandoned as hindu symbolism. Although all the exalted souls from sufi tradition once again sing jhulelal songs but I was goign through pics of the temple of jhulelal and it looked in dilapidated condition hence the question

The site here gives few pictures .. it certainly doesn’t look in minst condition given the popularity of jhulelal songs it seems little weird there must be many devotees
