Clive Owen and Daniel Craig are fighting it out to become the sixth James Bond, insiders say.

Executives for the next movie will choose either Owen or Craig to succeed Pierce Brosnan.

Brosnan, 51, will not appear in the next film, Casino Royale, after he failed to agree terms.

Owen, 40, and Craig, 37, are said to have beaten off competition from early contenders such as Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe.

Ewan McGregor and Colin Farrell were also in the running, before Owen and Craig captured the imaginations of the 007 producers.

A Bond source told The Sun: "They’re both good looking and charming, but also have that dangerous edge.

"We feel they are the real deal. The million-dollar question is which one will get it.

“There have been lots of potential candidates but these two really fit the bill.”

Meanwhile Nip/Tuck hunk Julian McMahon claimed he was also on the shortlist.

The 26-year-old Australian, who plays serial womaniser Dr Christian Troy in the TV show said: "I met the producers for a final audition. They told me to expect a decision in a couple of months and they said it was between me and one other person.

“It’s going to be a very nervous wait.”

In the new film, Bond faces his worst nightmare yet - having his tackle chopped off.

Bond will be tortured by a KGB agent who threatens to castrate him.

Daniel Craig is nice…:blush: he was really good in Layer Cake? i cant remember if thats the correct name, but it was that wannabe Guy Ritchi movie that came out last year.

lol @ vinnie jones as Bond!!! i miss him as a footballer, but he is a ok actor…he is kinda fit though, i think he should stick to the Bacardi adverts though.

vinnie is wicked, but yeah not a good bond, i just threw it in there for kicks :)

yeah it was layer cake ... i really dont see him as bond, i may be proven wrong. I was also hopingthat an earlier rumpur was true, Ioan Gruffudd cast as bond..he could have been good.

again the issue is they really need to have a younger bond than usual since this is meant to portray his early days.

oh yeh, id forgotten about Ioan Gruffudd..now he is fit!! didnt Timothy Dalton reccomend his as the next Bond?

iv havent read the novel, so i dont really know who would be best fit for the role, but as long as they are fit, i dont really mind...Bond's fitness is integral to the role :)

Are you British? you'v just used the word "wicked", thats a cockney thing to do...unless of course the Americans are stealing the cockney slang :p i cant understand how they say "arse" in an American accent, it sounds awful...

oh goodness a slip up...I am a brit-yank-pak born in Uk lived there as a kid, and then moved about. Home is still there although my new home is US

though i agree that british monopoly over james bond role needs to end, so we can have some classy american actors in there :D

I can think of a few dozen american actors that can do a better job. A few are already mentioned in this thread :D

we'r talking about Mr James Bond here, no American actor could do Bond, ew can you imagine an American Bond, theres no need for such a thing, let alone thoughts of such a thing :p

I know this is not happening but i would love to see Vinnie Jones as bond.. atleast once. :) And american actors should not be allowed to make it to the bond ranks... they'll make Bad Boys II out of 007.

I hate bond movies, yuk..I've yet to watch an entire bond movie, bond is everything about a man I hate.

Bond has to meet certain physical characteristics. Not that I expect that people have read the books. The closest in terms of bond of the books was Timothy Dalton, and early sean connery (even though flemming was not too keen on connery in the beginning)

The same is true for many other characters, it would take a certain type of person to fill in Indian jones role, or Jack Ryan..

the last time ppl wanted to expeirment too much and brought in george lazenby, he flopped.

Dalton's failure was of completelyu different reasons, his bond movies were darker than almost all other bond movies and thus did not work with kids, in addition ian flemmings books had run out.

Tom cruise? why not danny devito? or how about james earl jones?
next soemone would say that mini me should be given the role of Darth vader.

I reckon that Mr Fruadia should be next bond. He fits all the criteria of jero jero seven only if he could get over his fascination with global powers like Burkina Faso, Lesotho, Tongo etc :D

oh and Tom Cruise..he should stick to impossible missions..the only thing he did good was chew gum, wear shades and sweat a lot...and that was in the 80's. The man cannot act anymore.
