You have good instincts. Music AR Rahman, directed by Mani Ratnam - that combination was dynamite through the 90s and early 2000s. Mani Ratnam had the gift of bringing out the native culture and AR Rahman’s music fit the context in the movie beautifully. Here is the original version in Tamil, from which the Hindi song is dubbed. Language may sound harsh to the unaccustomed ear in the beginning.
