Re: Which is your favourite PTV drama??
Well said AQ :) and a bit of trivia on UN KAHI for you and all here;
UNKAHI in actual..was APA BI KA GHAR and a pilot was also made with Filmstar Lehri, me, Shehnaz, Behroze, and Azra Mansoor. It was produced by Shoaib Mansoor...and in those days the PILOT of any serial..was first approved by a Board at Islamabad. The pilot was approved and all got planned...for start of recording when Lehri developed an eye problem (MOTEEYA) for which he backed out and in came Saleem Nasir on my suggestion to Mohsin Ali, then Executive Producer, Shirin Khan and Shoaib Mansoor...the trio who started UNKAHI....the name changed by Hasina....(I call her sweetheart...since UNKAHI days....at every place we meet and I have highest respects for this lady of umpteenth qualities who has given much much to the Pak-Showbiz) .
The particular scene you mention made viewers roll over laughing! and it was me who created that scene...when, before the take...I told Saleem to create a mannerism as the scene was going straight without any special attraction....and twisting the tie was my idea. I still have that tie with me in my collection of hundreds....as it has very emotional attachment with me---because Allah Bakhshay...my buddiest of the buddies....it was MOHSIN ALI who gifted it to me during the shoot of an earlier serial ROSHAN MANZIL I did with Filmstar Shaista Qaiser in lead.
It was also on Mohsin & Shoaib's special request that I agreed to have my best safari suit cut to peices by scissors for creating the situation of the neighbor's dog coming after me...when I hopped in their garden to get roses for Miss Maryam.
On ROSES...another special addition by me was a dialogue which people often talk about...during my overseas shoots (this time it was in Edinburgh).....ACTUALLY there was this vey popular song of yesteryears by Helen Shepiro "I BEG YOR PARDON....I NEVER PROMISED YOU A ROSE GARDEN".....and during that scene when myself, Jamshed Ansari, Shehnaz Sheikh and Tabassum (Miss Maryam) are strolling in garden and Shehnaz concocts that Maryam needs ROSES.....at one point I mention; "Miss Maryam...I CAN promise you a ROSE Garden..!"....at one point...even people like Javed Jabbar and Marina Khan..who came much later in showbiz.....remembered that how nice I used that situation to put that song concept there....
Most of the scenes of UNKAHI...were done at my first cousin Maryam Muniff's house at Khayyaban-e-Hafiz, DHA-V..and while I hadly did three episodes in UNKAHI....my involvement as an unaccredited assistant to Mohsin, Shoaib and Shirin....for all and everything....remained from the first till the last episode...including the grand cast party we had at my house...right after the last episode!
Khush Rahein......
seems you improvised a lot.

Most of what you see and hear the actor deliver---today even, has immense improvisation---gladly accepted by the writer as well as the producer.... and sometimes it makes sense and sometimes its a bummer!
Incidently....my improvisation of "FOR CRYING OUT LOUD" in UNKAHI...was remembered for long and it was not in script.

well in some cases you can improvise a lot (like in comedy) but there has to be a limit. you know what will happen in this scene but you might not be looking from a larger perspective for that you have to analyze the whole picture which of course takes time and planning.you can take a scene change a few lines , add some action blah blah but you have to stick to whats on paper. I don't think great dialgues can be improvised by some actor. they are a work of immense hard work. it might happen once by fluke though but definitely not something done at the spur of the moment.

I agree...IMPROVISATON is not a peice of cake! its very very hard to improvise--at he same time---improvisation....by NO WAY...means that you eat up writer's script! Dont take me wrong...by improvisation...it is meant that an actor adds to the beauty of the script line....and improvisation is NOT a joke!! an actor has to be polished, gutsy and an experienced one to improvise...not ALL actors can do it or will. iT HAS AN APPLICATION OF MIND AND KIND OF READY MIND to adopt, think and imply.......and match with whatever being implicated with.
In CRICKET not all batsmen had this novel gift of IMPROVISATION..... and of the very few...JAVED MIANDAD topped. He was a classic improvisor...and in showbiz...... Talat Hussain, Moin Akhtar, Bushra Ansari, Sania Saeed and a few others have an edge on improvisation... but the artiste raely move away from the script and follow it vehemently..and wherever required...they WILL improvise and nobody can stop them!!!!

Re: Which is your favourite PTV drama??
??? Then I dont know which SALIM SHEIKH you are talking about???
His elder brother Javed is 57…there was a sister..who died in 2004,she was 50. Then there is Safina…Behroze’ wife…who must be around 36 and Salim is elder to Safina…and he has never been a hero in any movie…that I know of—but then again—your info or knowledge could be better then mine…
Salim played my son in Sadia Imam’s serial; DIL K KOREY KAGHAZ PE in 1999.
Khush Rahein…
Re: Which is your favourite PTV drama??
Salim Sheikh came in the movie Chief Saab with the song, Bas bhai Bas ziada baat naheen Cheif Saab, now if he was 16 then which ofcourse he ddint look cause he looked way in his 20s, probably 25-26.
That movie got released back in 95? 96
How come he’s turning 37?? He’s either 40 or something close.
Just like Meera is forever 22 ![]()
Re: Which is your favourite PTV drama??
Meera celebrated her 23 birthday last May…at Lahore at Yusuf Sallee’s…
I just spoke to SS…and Behroze.
Salim was born in 1967…and therefore he is 40. YOU are right but three years hardly matter…
Why I took him to be 37 is the fact that we had celebrated his birthday during the shoot of DKKKP.
**INCIDENTLY…THE BAD NEWS I JUST RECEIVED FROM BEHROZE IS…THAT THE FAMOUS TV & MOVIE ARTISTE…IZHAR QAZI EXPIRED LAST NIGHT… INN AL LILLAHE WA’ INNA ALEHE RAJEOUN.
HE WAS A VERY GOOD PERSON AND A GREAT ARTISTE…ALLAH JANNAT NASEEB KARE…
