The President of the south was Jefferson Davis, not Abaraham Lincoln. The Confederate States of America had declared themselves to be independent of the United States of America and no longer recognised Abraham Lincoln’s authority.

Pakistan and India, on the other hand, had agreed to terms of independence from Britain which established King George VI as being the King of both countries. India only became a republic in 1950; Pakistan followed in 1956.

Well..what the south said would only have been true if the confederates had won the war (YES YES, I KNOW they still say its halftime)…but the point is, they lost, and the whole reason the Civil War began was cuz the North wanted to show the Confederates that Abraham Lincoln was their president and they could not by any chance consider themselves seperate frm the North. Their not recognizing Lincon’s aunthority did not by any chance mean that he wasn’t their president. Even though they did say Jefferson was their president, it was in reality Lincoln, since when the elections were held, the ballots of the entire nation were counted, not just the North’s…
