Is there any technical problems if Old threads bring back or just its your EGO made you to warn and then creat a rule. That was not exist b 4.

Re: Where is the Book of Rules

So, by the diction used in the rule, if I bring a thread not older than a year, as back as 364 days old, is to be 'ruled out' from the implemented rule now? Or do we need a new rule for that too? See the problem?

Locking/deleting of an old thread MUST BE a relative issue and common sense dictates not to be a "lakeer ka faqeer" ... There are sometimes reasons unknown to a third person (moderators included) that why an old thread is revived other than the obvious one (birthday etc.) ... It is moderator's responsibility to find out the reasons and not just judge it completely out of context. People bring old threads back just to flood too, which is not always the intention. Flooding in that manner should be discouraged but without having a sound understanding, such implementation of rule is as similar as Hudood ordinance being wrongly implemented in the name of Sharia :-)

I'll give you a simple example... I joined this site in 2000.... None of the mods of Cafe were here at that time... We used to have some very awesome threads and chit chats around... There was a person nicked "Khan_Sahib"... we used to have a great time here... then the time came when he left ... he opened a thread in cafe and never came back...

Last year, during those same days, it reminded me of him and I thought to remember him as one of the good ex-guppy of this site... and I brought up that thread just so onyone from that time period can relate to it and say a prayer for Khan_Sahib's good health .... Of course, moderator, completely oblivious to the context, deleted my reply and the thread went into the bottom of the junk pile of old threads again....

There must be a need of drawing a line... perhaps, moderator should inquire about the reason for why the thread was brought back ... and yes, he/she should.... when a moderator has enough time to lock a thread or answer in a thread while locking, there is no reason, a simple PM inquiry should be a burden of any kind.... it is a duty and in the word's of Spiderman's grand father "With Power comes the great responsibility" :p

Good job AQ

Re: Where is the Book of Rules

The rule is now in force. An old thread can be revived provided it is relevant to the current discussion, not just to put a smilie and revive it. AQ the example you gave you could have approached the mods before reviving the thread and obtained their agreement. i am sure they would have agreed. If you revive without an explanation than how are mods to know what your intentions are.

Goodnews jee move on.

Re: Where is the Book of Rules

Well, it was very obvious with the starting date and my replying date and the reply itself that I had put up PLUS remember I am just a PM away :phati:

PS: can we stop beating the line now … It was just used to show you my point of view and I see the message did get across… time to move on

Re: Where is the Book of Rules

And on that happy note from AQ the thread is closed.
