Re: Where I Work

Sara, no I don’t live in Canada, my folks and my brother do, Toronto is only a 3 hour drive for me so I do find myself up there quite often.

Hum jaisay unpaDh jaahil kahaaN say professor? No, I’m of the of the network architects here and do teach a database & society course equivalent class.

Yes, there is DEFINITELY life here, the Finger Lakes region is New York’s answer to California’s Napa valley, this is wine country and tourists come in big ugly buses to do the whole wine tour thing, there are about 2 dozen wineries around just lake Seneca. For non wine drinkers, like me, there are a lot of things to do, there are hundreds of hiking trails, if you own a boat, which inshallah I plan to next spring, lake Seneca has some good waterways.

I’m blessed to work here, our campus has 98% wireless concentration, which means that on a beautiful day, I can take my laptop and sit at our boat house and work. We have a beautiful boat house on the water to accomodate our sail boats and skulls (those long boats used for rowing), we have a pretty decent rowing crew and our sailing team is the NCAA third division sailing champions.

Re: Where I Work

I guess we chose bad time to come down, we came in the winter. I was told there are nearby ski trails and stuff...but when we got there, there really wasn't much open..and the hotel guy kept referring to the 'Village' or sumthing, some central area....whaever. But yeah im sure if we visit in the summer it'll be a much better experience. I guess we are so used to the city and everything being open so lae and nightlife...it was weird cuz it was sooo serene and quiet and everything closed early that was open.
