Bogona, Very sorry to hear about your misfortune. Just wondering if you got a chance to finish your IT bachelors and do specialize in any vertical segment???
Getting a job is about your own salemanship. How you present your achievements and your skills will dictate if you get an interview or a job. Sometimes you have to re-word your achievements, sometimes you have to tone things down and sometimes you just completely omit things. Simply speaking, you have to rewrite your resume for every single job you are applying for. In this tough IT market, you will get a job either through inside lead or just by pure luck. Have you ever played roullete ... I play it everyday and I am not losing hope.
Anyhow, I do not want to discourage anyone from IT. It is here to stay and it will grow and evolve with time. And if you are in IT you always must invest and stay current. This is a challenging field and has lot to offer.
Everything that goes down, will come up one day and what ever is on top must come down one day. All jobs/careers go through these cycles, IT is no different.
Good Luck everyone, stay focused, stay current and drive on.
Everyone is having a hard time. It is hard for green card/citizens to find jobs in tis tough market. And it is harder for H1 to find anything. The candidate pool is so big that companies can afford to be very picky and often they do not want to go trough all the hassle/paper work that comes along with sponsoring/visa.
New fiscal year is approaching closer and market should pick up a little bit in couple of months. Lets hope for the best
i think programmers have it lucky these days.... i know there are heaps of jobs in VB in the UK.... man i get flooded with recruitment agencies looking for VB programmmer...... sadly i live in OZ...
about 3 years back the IT industry started going downhill... i dont know how it is at the moment cus ive just been sitting at the same place for past 3 or so years.... i know its sad that u spend about 30k (sorry i spent about 16k) getting ur damn degree.. and at the end of it u cant even get a decent job.... unless ofcourse ur anglo... and have sexy legs... now whats that got to do with IT? geez..

Moral of the story: Stay Away from IT .... Don't invest more money into getting urself certifications etc Coz thats just another means of exploiting your position.

i agree! there is no point in spending 24k on masters or MS certifications.. at the end of the day that doesnt seem to matter at all...
