when would u not be scared of death

Just a hypothetical question...If you were told that there is no death...would it change your life style? Do you lose hope, does it keep the same motivation...would it help in any sort of way.

Good hypothetical question:) It made me really think..'kay here's my answer, courtesy of my bz neurons;)..the ones' that didn't crash into each other that is..rueful smile

Would it change my lifestyle--would i lose hope--would i have the same motivation? Nope, nope, and yes. I mean c'mon u guys, Not only do we have to worry about the hereafter first and foremost, but we also have to think hard about this finite life of ours. I mean our attitude our actions, all have consequences here also right?

Here's a story i got through one of the fwds,
An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family. He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by. The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career. When the carpenter finished his work and the builder came
to inspect the house, the contractor handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is your house," he said, "my gift to you." What a shock! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live in the home he had built none too well. So it is with us. We build our lives in a distracted way, reacting rather than acting, willing to put up less than the best. At important points we do not give the job
our best effort. Then with a shock we look at the situation we have created and find that we are now living in the house we have built. If we had realized, we would have done it differently. Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Build wisely. It is the only life you will ever build. Even if you live it for only one day more, that day deserves to be lived graciously and with dignity. The plaque on
the wall says, "Life is a do-it-yourself project." Who could say it more clearly? Your life today is the result of your attitudes and choices in the past. Your life tomorrow will be the result of your attitudes and the choices you make today.

...i guess u could take this story two ways, the first would be to see it as a metaphor displaying the consequences of your earthly life..or the second way would be to just view it as---presenting your life today and how all your actions, all of your words, all of your thoughts do have at least some influence in this life also.

I mean, alright fine what if hypothetically there was no such thing as death, how would that make u lose motivation, i mean u would still want to pursue goodness, happiness, and purity in this life..right? I hope so...people would still have the same needs, same desires, same quests wouldn't they? We as humans have been blessed with a moral sense, a conscience, something that makes us perceive things as right and/or wrong...and so then wouldn't that still push us, motivate us, and inspire us the way it does now?

Like that story says..our life tomorrow is the result of our attitudes and the choices we make today.

There is no need to fear death!

Catwomen is right, most of us are afraid to face God, because we will be so ashamed.

In the Quran it is said that every soul shall have a taste of death.

For those who utilized there time carefully and avoided sin, will taste it sweet, others will taste it bitte. We all will die.

If we are afraid, it means that we must start asking for forgiveness, for Allah is extremely Generous and Oft-forgiving!

Gfq very nice story and a very cute answer. I'm glad people like you are capable of thinking with an open mind and outside the box. Most of the people have explained death in terms of religion which is perfectly fine, however, our motivation should not be driven only by the reward after death. Our good deeds and actions as humans should be a potrayal of our conscience regardless of the fact of mortality, immortality or fear of God.

Here is something I got for you guys:)

CARELESS I lived, accepting day by day
The lavish benison of sun and rain,
Watching the changing seasons pass away
And come again.

    Now the great harvester has stilled my breath;
In this cold house I neither hear nor see.
Though in my life I never thought of death,
        Death thought of me.
