I look @ it in two ways :p
One, I hate strangers who innecessarily try to be frankl with you etc..:p
Second, it's interesting to hear someone you dunno comment on you..tells you exactly what is really flashy about u :p

I tell them to "get real". I can't deal with compliments at all and find them very hard to accept. I'm much better at dealing with criticism - emotionally that it. Compliments from strangers are way too suspicious so I never give it a second thought. With people I know, I question why they give the compliment.....Recent example, my managers called me to a 'meeting'. I thought, yep, here goes, I get the boot now..........but instead.......they tell me that they have nominated me for an award that they have never been able to nominate anyone else for!!! Talk about emotional turmoil! First response ....WHY??? Second response in answer to their answer..........waaahhhhhh....I burst into tears!
