Weren't second marriages ok when men would go off to war and their would be an influx of women back in the village, so people had to take 2 or 3 wives? Other than that if the girl is marrying him for the money she will cheat on him, which will result in your perv of a cousin beheading this poor gold digging girl.
I feel sorry for the wife of the old man and the kids who will have thoughts about their second mom.

I don't think there is any problem with the MAN exercising his RIGHT.
During WWII when Pakistani men were sent to Hong Kong and other various combat zones, when 6-7 men from a single pind died their would be a influx of women in the pind which would have to marry men who were already married.

Yikes! Well, if I were the wife....right now I'd be worried about my future and the future of the kids. As of right now, the wife and the husband are on good terms. Who knows what will happen if/when the 2nd wife actually enters the picture. The 1st wife needs to get the husband to make a trust or put property/money in her name and in the name of the children BEFORE he marries the 21 year old (Does Pakistan even have pre-nups?).
If the wife/kids are powerless to stop the marriage....then at least they need to think about their own future in case things fall apart. The 1st wife needs to make sure that in the event that the husband changes his feelings towards her in the future....at least she'll have a home to live in/money to survive (I imagine the wife is also around 60ish and not in a position to work/support herself).

So a distant cousin of mine, "happily" married for 30 years, with a couple of children and a grand child, suddenly announces to his family that he is planning to marry a second wife who he met at his workplace and is 21 years old.
His family is obviously shocked but the dude has made his decision. The other thing is that he still loves his wife and she can't find any issues with their relationship other than this major new development. She's now confused about the next step as in whether to move out or just accept this. He is otherwise a great gentleman, a loving father, a great provider and so while everyone is very taken aback, there isn't any drama or anger. Just confusion.
So, dear Life1 psychologists, please discuss, and shower us with your 2 cents.
