what's going on in Pakistan?

Spock sorry to say you haven't really given any stats to back up that very sweeping statement.

Zakk, statement by the police cheif, who said 'the law and order situation is deteriorating', and the MMA government over there arent good proof? Normally police chiefs dont say such things unless the situation is that bad...

Wat happened to that COP who, as per his duty during the compain, asked to remove the dark papers from the window glasses of a car which happened to belonged to a high military official ( Maj. General Sabahat HUSSAIN ) at Lahore last week.........He was abused and assaulted by military driver first , uniform was torn and later his bages removed , was pushed behind bars in the same police station where he was posted. As well rest of the police staff performing duty on the same post were placed under suspension along with their incharge SHO, and also DSP and SP of that area were ceased to work immediately and later transferred.
Is this incident not enough to understand whos' law is effective on this land of PAKISTAN and what is going on here in Pakistan.?.....I think any further discussion on this issue is useless.

I am surprised that police officer even dared to say that, I mean its a fact in Pakistan that the army is dead scared of military personel. When I was in EME college, Peshawar Road, a captain (doing the YO course at our college) went out on his motor bike and was stopped over by the police chowki. He got really ticked and went, cant you see im wearing the uniform and you dared to stop me? The policemen there said they didnt care who or what he was, and the next day that captana came back with 15 of his jawans, and beat the hell out of those police officers. Nothing happened to that captain as his superiors backed him and furthermore the police chowki there was known to harass people passing by and used to take bribes.

You dont have to be a rocket scientist to figure out which cities of pakistan have the most crime.

As I believe more on facts then fiction…

The first link will provide u with statistics about crimes in lahore.

Crimes in lahore

The second link is a general timeline of crimes .. you can check each one and see where they happened.
It will be a good learning exercise for u spock.

Interpol has some stats on Pakistans crime rate:

Also, you dont have to be a rocket scientist to compare the population of Lahore with Peshawar. And please, its common sense and well known that Lahore is much much much more safer city than Peshawar, so please dont even go there, or I will have to send you to ring road at 3am. And please, no more personal attacks alright? And those two links that you gave, no where do they prove what you said about Peshawar being the safer city. Also, go back and read my posts again, I am not discussing terrorist activities here, Im talking about robberies, dacoits, thefts etc, not about some al-qaeda operative being caught in karachi sort of stuff.

pakistan is a great place to be.

especially karachi.

Spock I have several Lahori friends who would disagree with your statement. Moreover an increase in crime rate (which I accept there is) does not make Peshawar the 2nd most dangerous city in Pakistan. Actual statistics might prove your point to back up the statement would mak a difference. The only examples you have cited are personal: Landi Kotal and Ring ROad, while Landi Kotal is not part of Peshawar and the ring road case is not a reflection of the whole City. Similarly the links you posted mention an increase in crime rate it nowhere says that Peshawar is the worst when it comes to the law and order situation

Zakk, lahore has a very safe night life, families going out at nights to their favourite markets etc, but in case of Peshawar, after 8 to 9pm, they dont really go out. Why do you think that is? The city has no night life.

Spock ! the first sight will give u a statistical view of registered High cout cases in the 4 provinces…

see for ur self
Registered cases in Pakistan

the second sight is an article about honour killing …

Link

Thirdly whether ethnic/non ethnic, sectarian , dacoits, murder …when it comes to a total , all of it is crime.

fourthly : Its more about the bad fish in the pond then the total amount of fish.

PKC

do the numbers mean more when they are adjusted on a per capita basis? 10 crimes in tando jaam mean more than 100 in Karachi:)

honour killings..if one can use that term for that despicable moronin act, is just one part of the equation of crimes...and do not affect the life of an average person as much as robberies, murders, etc

Peshawar was and is one of the most conservative cities in Pakistan. The lack of night life is not related to crime figures, it's more cultural.

Dear all. The topic here is the law and order situation in Pakistan as a whole and as we all know, it is a country-wide problem. We do not want a discussion such as this city vs that city here. Please stick to the topic of law and order in the country as a whole. Any posts from now on that ignore this warning will be edited or removed.

its disgraceful

Ok......just wondering....when exactly was the law and order situation peaceful in pakistan. There is always sumthing or the other screwing up in one city or another. I'm from khi.....and i love the place, but recently that place has gone to the dogs. I mean u could be the most law abiding citizen, pay ur taxes and what not.....but at some point or another some freak will come out and screw u over cause its his bloody right.
My little bother got kidnapped in khi in sept......he came back home after 50 days of torture and negotiations. I mean what the hell did he do to deserve it. The situation is escalating to insanity.

My two cents

Sorry to hear about your brother. That is very sad.
As for the Law and order situaton in Pakistan, why don't the people of Pakistan take over the situation and create citizen awareness programs, Start neighborhood watches, and hold corrupt officials responsible? In our big and joint familial society, this should be easy to implement. I am not talking militias rather constituents more aware.
Boost the moral of the Police and implement checks and balances to aid in accountability. Humane punishments for crooks, but enough to set example so that others won't follow. Change your laws. The list can go on.
It's all about taking the initiative.

If u r talking abt peshawar

Peshawar is quite safe the other parts of Pakistan if u talk abt small crimes.
The big crimes they r 1 in 100
