What to wear on my engagement :D

Leaning more towards the maxi idea:

Re: What to wear on my engagement :D

Lol I didn't mean Vidya's exact dress, I just think I wanna wear purple cos I've seen her dress, would that kind of purple be too dark for an engagement? Is it normal to wear a dupatta on your head if you're getting engaged?

Sparklesnflorals, did you also wear red for your baraat? :)

Don't worry I'm really good at pinning saris thankfully. I have to say in the last few days the dhaka pajama has grown on me, unfortunately I'm guessing they're quite a recent style, and I'll be doing my shopping from Southall, so it'll be unlikely for me to find one :( I'm finding it hard to find a maxi in Southall as well :(

Re: What to wear on my engagement :D

Rock Star - Congrats!! How much time do you have? It might be worth it to order a custom dress from one of the home based designers on GS. I was in the same boat as you (albeit not for my engagement but for my cousin's wedding) I hated EVERYTHING in Canada and anytime I wanted to wear something I had to buy material and get it stitched but recently I've been getting all my formal/party stuff made in Pakistan. That's what I'd do if I had time... It might end up being cheaper too.

That being said I would go for a maxi or a pishwas... I like purple ... maybe purple and another colour? Like the Vidya Balan purple and maybe beige/gold mix?

ETA: I just realized I described Vidya Balan's dress! LOL

Re: What to wear on my engagement :D

Thanks :) I've got 5 weeks left!!! I guess that's not enough time to get a custom made one, right? Plus my boyfriend's mum is gonna take me shopping to Southall, no where else, they're making a big enough deal about the fact they're taking me with them to find my clothes, so I have to be grateful. :( Thankfully there is a possibility that in the end they won't buy me my engagement clothes, and in that case I could go wherever I wanted for my clothes :D

Where do you get your clothes from in Pakistan? My mum recently found a shop in Pakistan, where she bought me quite a few clothes, when she went about a month ago, that too in the styles I like, maybe I can convince my mum to get me something from there just in case... ;)

Lol! It's an amazing dress :D
