at home? I mostly speak Punjabi but sometimes I do speak urdu with brothers and parents and English with sister.

I would especially like to see how many girls speak Punjabi because I don’t think there are a lot of guppans that speak Punjabi at home. Most of them speak urdu or english but I could be wrong. Lets see.

My Parents speak Punjabi and answer them back in urdu but because my whole Khandaan speaks Punjabi, as I happen to be Jatt, so my urdu is ‘‘punjurdu’’.

My brother speaks Punjabi though, cause he is the one who has to pass the family tradirons, ot me since I am a girl.

I speak in English with my friends.

I was not blown away, I actually like the fact the a lot of girls speak Punjabi. I just didn't know too many who spoke punjabi at home. Most of my guppan friends speak urdu at home, and the ones who speak punjabi at home, we still talk in urdu.

There’s a contradiction here… is it “tum” or “aap”?

Shuma means mostly “Aap” . Its a plural word. For single, Too is used.

generation before me ( father mother uncle aunts etc etc) spoke UP urdu.
Our generation (me brothers sisters etc etc) learned and spoke Karachi style urdu
Kids speak english at school and outside - urdu / english at home

Examples below for dumb folks who dont know what I am trying to say :halo:

Older Generation
Pipe main say paani bahiey hay

My Generation
Pipe main say paani Beh raha hay

Kids - Present day
Yoooo - the pipez leakin’

Mostly i speak English at home, even though my Mum talks to us in Urdu most of the time…unless she is shouting at us, in which case, i’ll hear Punjabi thrown out…I understand both languages, but probably Urdu more…my Dad talks to us in English and Urdu…my Dadi doesn’t know Urdu, she speaks Punjabi and doesn’t even know Urdu…so when i sometimes have to talk to her, i attempt some Punjabi…i have cousins who speak both Punjabi and Urdu at home.
