Words of appreciation are difficult, I struggle with expressing them and also with accepting them. So physical touch is easier, it conveys what I can't verbalize. Quality time, yes, most important of all, methinks.

its understandable. Analogy would be that if you dont understand german language, you wont speak it and cant accept it as form of communication if someone else speaks it

but what if you are married to a person whose love language is word of appreciations. Would you learn it or would you want him to change?

^I am trying at the moment to learn it. Partyslims gave me some great advice the other day about writing down what needed to be said, and then taking it from there. So I've got the ball rolling, but I think the difficulty is going to be in continuing it in a consistent manner.

Most of the time #4 includes #1,2,3 in its-self.

Well mine would be to show appreciation by action. What i mean is by doing something nice and special for my partner to be which she appreciates.

My top love languages are words of affirmation and quality time.

2. Physical touch
3. Act of service
4. Quality time
5. Gifts.

All of the above. Number 1 would be incomplete without the frequent mentioning of the Love, gratitude and blessings of the Creator upon the couple. Just like 100000000000000000 is useless if "1" is removed from the beginning.

2 would not have barakah without Bismillah...

3 would strengthen the relationship if the intention is to please Allah (swt) first, without expecting any return from the spouse.

4 would become even more effective when it includes in bits and pieces time to time sharing, learning and practicing of the ways of the Prophet (saw).

5 is a sunnah itself and helps in increasing love.
