Sorry I cannot recall the name of the play, but the star was Abid Ali.

Wow- all these interesting books. I should have asked this over the summer, darn.

Mem- I luv watching Dan. Steele Movies- ever see those before/after reading a book?

Fraud- and what exactly are you looking up in the yellow pages???

Blade- What is As I lay Dying about? I just heard of that one.

Baarish- Behen! I just got on the bandwagon for those Harry Potter books.

I was briefly mentioning it to my best friend who's also and english major, and she hadn't heard too much about them either. Made us feel like bhuddis. And so, a week b4 my bday I received a package from Amazon.com...she bought me the 1st edition! I was sooo surprised and elated, but my bday was at the end of the summer, so I haven't had a chance to read it yet. And someone else got me "Go Tell it On the Mountain." Anyone ever hear of/read that book?..that has a history behind it!...but break is over-back to research!

“Charlie n the chocolate factory” used to b my favoreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeete book… .. now i just luv readin… got one of the sidney sheldon’s though..“Tell me your dreams” .. n its.. well “not bad at all” … ;)…other than that.. got loads n loads of em.. can’t squeeze in all of em here…

"Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte and anything by Jane Austen, especially "Pride and Prejudice". I liked Hamlet as well.

…ok that was a joke..

seriously speaking… right now my fav book is Seat of the Soul and Life Srategies..very useful books, one is insightful the other is practical..

Baarish -----> you read shogun? that is my fav’ movie.. how is the book.. i’ve always wanted to read it but i’m not sure if i would be able to follow it as well as the miniseries depicts the events.

for me his novels are hard to follow.. i cannot appreciate his writing style.. so i gave up trying to read anything by him.

ok.. i lied.. i forgot to tell you my favourite fiction book so far.. it is..

A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth.. great book..a must read.

Yep Amber......novel is even gr8er than the movie (I think, but then I always think that)

Books books books there are so many to chose from.
Isabelle Allende - House of the Spirits.
J.R.Tolkien - Lord of the Rings
Anything by R.A.Salvatore - i am a AD&D fan.
Lousie De beniere - Corrilles Mandolin - excellent book about the second world war.
I actually was about to cry after reading 1 chapter.
Lets see - 100 years of solitude, however very South American, very hard to understand.

CROIRE A L'INCROYABLE

Mem, Danielle Steel is a neat author. What I like most about her style of writing is the fact that she does a good job of linking past and present. She has the ability to take major events of history and blend them so well with the issues and situations of the present society. :)

Salman Rushdie eh?..I haven't gotten to him yet either- I can't wait until graduation so I can begin pleasure reading again, yaar!

But- along the same lines, has anyone ever read any of Hanif Kureishi's works? I have read a few of his most famous plays.

And- has anyone ever tried books on tape? I've done that twice with Frankenstein and The Awakening. I had so many novels to read one semester that I decided to cheat a bit and listen to those two while walking around campus and driving to and from school. I liked it.

yes Rare Dia… she really is an excellent author whatever anyone else thinks.. her writing ability is wonderous…
Rare dia - try to read - ‘‘his bright light’’ it’s a bit sad, it’s a true story about her son who is a manicc depressive - but it’s like Danielle steele is sat talking to you and telling you about it - it makes you feel sad but very much alive - and I think it’s a fine book to read.

Another one of her talents is when she describes something - be it an object or a person - it seems you have that person or object so perfectly captured in your mind with her detailed desription, that is awlays good and keeps you gripped…through out the book..

and Barysh - yes I have seen 1-2 movies - but not that many - I saw message from Nam and Daddy and one more - naam yaad ni raha - but I think the novels are better…
