By definition I think Deen is the complete way, and Madhab is the understanding on how to remain on that way.

Hanbali, Hanafi, Shafi’i, Maliki are madhahib. Islam is the deen.

i think Muqwee wanted to compare Deen with other religions…not the Islamic terminology of madhab [madaahib]. we erroneously Islam as madhab. Islam is a Deen, not madhab. Christianity is a madhab. Judaism was Deen [Deen-e-Musvii (r.a.)].
