Re: What is the best way to get rid of hair on sides of the face?
i used to have the same problem but then what worked for me was ... first wash ur face with neutrogena facewash...then i use facial wax strips easily available in the market...and then pat some baby powder on the sides where u waxed...and don't wash ..leave it like this for a few hours and then use at night some soothing lotion like i use aloe vera gel...this has always worked for me:)
Re: What is the best way to get rid of hair on sides of the face?

Re: What is the best way to get rid of hair on sides of the face?
All this sounds so scary… waxing and threading on the face. I get my brows and upper lips threaded only, and that too is as painful as death everytime
I gotta say you ladies are brave :hinna:
hair removing cream on face? Wow well. people have given up on removing creams for under legs and under arms as it rather encourages growth and have resorted to rather painful methods like waxing only to avoid thicker growth and then the cream on face!! Paheli you might be lucky one.
Re: What is the best way to get rid of hair on sides of the face?
^ Same here, I never got my face waxed. I only thread my upper lips and eye brows.

After using Nair? No. I just apply argan oil.

Who are these "people" that have given up on hair removal creams b/c it "encourages growth"? Is there a study that you're referring to? Considering that fact that hair removal cream is a billion dollar industry, it's difficult for me to believe that I'm the only woman in this world getting positive results from creams like Nair without experiencing this "side effect" (ie. the creams encouraging hair growth).
I'm a firm believer in educating myself with facts rather than going by myths. I don't doubt the sincerety of those that claim this side effect exists. However, I'm wondering about the SOURCE of this claim. Besides, If a certain chemical in creams like Nair actually did this as you ladies claim...then I'm sure companies by now would be advertising a version of it to women for that reason (ie. isn't that how Latisse got started....b/c it was a untended side effect of glaucoma eye drops).
That being said.....can anyone here provide ANY links to any credible source that actually states that hair removal creams encourages hair growth OR causes hair to grow thicker? I have not been able to find anything online on my own and I'd be very interested to see some facts regarding this. I see several of you stating this "side effect"....but can you actually provide a credible source to back up your claim? I'm not talking about some statement or review by a random person online whose background we're not sure about. I'm talking about an actual study, or dermatologis's article, or an explanation of the chemical ingredients etc.......things that actually prove this claim using FACTS.
Re: What is the best way to get rid of hair on sides of the face?
^I've actually heard that myth too, many many times. I don't know how much truth there is to it though. Maybe some people experience diff hair removing methods differently? Most girls I know don't shave their arms because they say the hair grows back more coarse but that's not the case with me at all. Another reason lots of girls run away from hair removing creams is that they say it turns the skin dark, again, I don't know if that's the case and if it then how probable it is...that's what makes a diff. Almost everything has a side effect or a negative aspect, diff people have diff experiences, there are always exceptions and that's where myths come from. The key thing is to know what the success rate of a product or method is so you know if it's worth trying.
Re: What is the best way to get rid of hair on sides of the face?
I have written about this so many times. I didn't even want to get involved in this thread.
Hair removal creams and shaving do not increase the growth. They are just essentially cutting down the hairs. The telogen hairs will emerge more slowly after this (removal) but all the anagen hairs will keep growing normally. Whilst with waxing, you get a longer 'clearer' period because you are removing the hairs from both types of hairs from the follicles and it is a little bit longer before they start having new anagen hairs growing in them.
Shaving leaves the hair with a blunt end, so for thicker hairs this is noticeable and the hair feels coarser.
My only issue with hair removing cream would be if it damages the skin. But I do know their are sensitive ones especially for facial hair and like all products, one test patches and observes first.
Re: What is the best way to get rid of hair on sides of the face?
Firstly, as I stated earlier, I don’t doubt the sincerety of the people who’re sharing the claims of this side effect. However, as consumers, we should also take the steps to discover whether or not the claim of a side effect has ANY scientific basis at all.
If people were to state that they have heard about this side effect but never actually experienced it themselves despite using the product OR have never seen any facts backing it up, then I’d have no issues with it. BUT the problem is that this side effect is being presented as a fact…and for women coming across this thread, it can easily give them the impression that this is a proven side effect when in reality, its not.
I’m positive that desi women aren’t different biologically than other non-desi women. Here we have desi women claiming that they have heard this side effect claim A LOT (ie. even you said you’ve heard this “many, many times”.). So according to these statements, this side effect isn’t a extremely rare thing. And these creams are being used to millions of women around the world. Thus I find it hard to believe that so many desi women out there are experiencing this side effect and/or are hearing about it…and yet not one single scientific fact is backing up this claim. And I assure you that if large groups of women started experiencing this side effect in the U.S., we would’ve heard about the lawsuits by now.
If a woman claims her hair is growing thicker or skin turning dark when she started hair removal creams…that does NOT mean that the cream is causing it. When we “hear” this claim by others…none of us has any way of knowing that the thicker hair and/or darker skin is not being caused by other medications, some other medical condition, or even use of some other cream. For example: its a well known proven fact that skin bleaching agents can cause skin to turn darker if proper precausions such as sunscreen isn’t used. So if a desi girl starts using skin bleaching cream and hair removal cream at the same time, and doesn’t take those precausions and her skin turns dark…and she blames the hair removal cream…and others believe her…then what’s the point. This is why actual studies or FACTS should be relied upon to see if there is a direct cause/effect relationship between the product and side effect.
On a side note: I have also heard the claims about shaving, and think that’s B.S. Here is a Mayo Clinic dermatologist’s comment on it.

Yes, they make different ones for face, legs, pubic reagion etc. Only the ones meant for facial hair should be used on the face b/c they're MUCH more gentle than the other ones. And as with any creams, a test patch should always be done.
Re: What is the best way to get rid of hair on sides of the face?
I agree, it’s important to find out whether claims of this sort have a scientific basis. I’ve been especially curious after reading this thread. I personally haven’t used hair removing creams long enough to make this claim but the fact that so many people are making it catches my attention. There are hundreds of searches on this topic on the internet, but none really answer the question. There is no scientific research done on this, perhaps because there isn’t a biological basis behind it, but maybe there should be some doctoral research done so this question is put to rest.
Re: What is the best way to get rid of hair on sides of the face?
I normally only get my eyebrows and upper lip waxed, but I decided I would be brave and get it threaded. And the threading aunty thought it would be a good idea to thread my “side burns”, even though I’ve never had issues with them. BIGGEST mistake of my lifeeeeee! Omg it hurt so bad!!
And because my skin wasn’t used to it, it caused little tiny breakouts along my jaw line, and upper lip… and my eye brows were SO itchy for a couple days.
So in that case, I agree with Reha. If your skin is used to it, you might not break out. But everyone’s skin and experiences are different.
Now I get EVERYTHING waxed. And right before I do, I was my face with anti-bacterial soap (the one you bought is perfectly fine), I always ask the waxing lady to use a new wax stick (if she isn’t there’s a problem and that’s just plain gross), and after they use a calming gel or aloe vera gel. On my drive home, I blast the AC to keep my face really cool, and then I ice it when I come home and wash again with anti bacterial soap.
I wouldn’t recommend washing your face with the soap with after getting any area waxed because your pores are open and waxing takes off a layer of (dead) skin I THINK, so it BURNSSSSSSS!!!
So giving it the gap, the time it takes to get home from the waxing salon (about 10-15 mins) and then icing to close some of the pores, is usually good enough.
Re: What is the best way to get rid of hair on sides of the face?
I think I already said this in another alike thread, but I dont wax, tread or bleach.
I burn them off with a machis. Actually my mum does it for me, but one can do it themselves I think. Its very easy, fast and doesnt hurt afterwards. The hair grows finer and less, at least in my case. I use to bleach, but every since I have been doing this method (last 1 1/2 yr) I have not bleached once.
