What is the aim of circumcision of men in Islam?

Re: What is the aim of circumcision of men in Islam?

In most developed nations, such as Norway, Denmark, England, Germany etc, most males get through life just fine, without being circumcised. Of course we must dare to ask whether ritual circumcision of male infants is necessary, considering the risk of ruining the life of said infant, if complications arise. Some infants have even died.

According to a hadith, Abraham circumcised himself with an Adze - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia when he was 80 years old. Some will claim the hadith is false, some will say its true. As is the norm with religious scriptures, there will be varying interpretations. I don’t know the reason why he did that, but pretty sure he was commanded by god to carry out the act.

Regardless of the veracity of the hadith, there is no need for circumcision from a medical point of view, in developed nations. If there were, those nations would make measures to implement circumcision as a norm.

Good question. Especially considering how complications will more likely than not, result in ruined life for the male infant. But hey, believing in Ganesha is crazy, putting your child’s life at risk, because you believe god commanded you to do so, is not.
